I would just keep on checking your ressie on the
dvc website. If the 2 BR clears the waitlist, your 1 BR ressie will be changed to a 2 BR ressie. I recently booked a dedicated 2 BR at WLV for 5 days in late March and two of the days were not available. I booked the three available days for points, the two "unavailable" days for cash and waitlisted the two unavailable days using the automatic waitlist. My first choice was for a dedicated 2Br but was willing to take a 2 BR lock-off. My dvc website initially showed only the points ressies as it does not show waitlists or cash ressies but about three weeks later I noticed that my ressie had been changed to a 2 BR lock-off for points on all requested days. Before I received the actual confirmation for the 2 BR lock-off in the mail, I noticed the ressie on the dvc website was changed to a dedicated 2 BR for all 5 days. Based on my experience, the automatic waitlist works and it is easier to check status online than by calling MS.
