How many call to check the waitlist?

I am waitlisting for the first time and am curious as to how many call MS and check if their waitlist has become available, and how many wait for confirmation from MS. I asked for it to be automatically booked if it became available. I currently have a 1br reservation, but am hoping to change it to a 2br if something opens up (at BWV, 2nd week in June). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

I would just keep on checking your ressie on the dvc website. If the 2 BR clears the waitlist, your 1 BR ressie will be changed to a 2 BR ressie. I recently booked a dedicated 2 BR at WLV for 5 days in late March and two of the days were not available. I booked the three available days for points, the two "unavailable" days for cash and waitlisted the two unavailable days using the automatic waitlist. My first choice was for a dedicated 2Br but was willing to take a 2 BR lock-off. My dvc website initially showed only the points ressies as it does not show waitlists or cash ressies but about three weeks later I noticed that my ressie had been changed to a 2 BR lock-off for points on all requested days. Before I received the actual confirmation for the 2 BR lock-off in the mail, I noticed the ressie on the dvc website was changed to a dedicated 2 BR for all 5 days. Based on my experience, the automatic waitlist works and it is easier to check status online than by calling MS.

I agree with using this strategy. I was waitlisted for an additional day at HHI, with an automatic confirmation. I checked the website, and the additional day showed there about a week before I got the confirmation in the mail

Keep calling every time I got my waitlist I was calling MS about something else and they told me my waitlist came thru. They never called me.

Did you clarify with them to cancel the one BR and use the points toward the 2 BR if it becomes available? If not you may find yourself with 2 reservations. If you have enough points to do this you can then cancel the second one but if you don't they may borrow points from another year to fill the reservation which could create some issues you may not want. Just be certain that MS and you agree on what is supposed to happen when your waitlist comes through since you have it set up to be done automatically. pixiedust: pixiedust:

No, I do not have enough points to keep both reservations, only enough to change to a 2BR (and only standard view) if it becomes available.

I've never called. I've always done automatic waitist, and we've always gotten it.

Could be coincidence, but I was on a waitlist for 2 months, and low and behold,
when I called for something else and casually asked about the waitlist, it came through as we spoke! I've read too many members posts stating the same thing to believe it was a fluke.
