How many books do you maintain?

baby album for book kids

preschool album for both kids

family album

trip album

I'm way behind on all of them!
:(

I have one family album (on my 4th), one album for each child for when they're older (3 kids and 2/3 albums each).....so I have to get caught up --- I'm almost a year behind on all the books!!

My goal is for each of my three kids to have 2 scrapbooks plus 1 school album when they grow up. I just can't see them wanting any more than that when they are adults (each of my CM albums holds 35 pages).

I also work on the Family Album which I will keep with me. I don't care how many of THOSE I have  !

I just finished the first Disney Album and will use the new little Disney CM one for MVMCP this year and the rest will go in the Family Album (maybe, lol... gotta think about that one!).

So, currently I have 6 open albums until our November trip!

Pssst... could someone tell CM to make their Disney album 12 X 12? That would work out SOOOOO much better for me! :hyper:

Off to scrap now,

Karen

PS... I am pretty much caught up (to June of this year). I am saving some for a workshop on Friday night. ;)

I started scrapping 10 years ago when my oldest grandson was born (followed by another 3 years later). They are my main inspiration and I do chronological albums for each. So far (through 2001) the 10 year old has seven albums and the younger one has three. So I get double prints of anything with them, do an album for each, then put the same pictures on a much smaller scale in an album for my daughter (I don't want her to have to wait until I croak before she has family pictures). If my unmarried son is at the event, I also scrap for him. And finally, I do a couple of pages for myself just to remember what was going on. I also maintain an album for things my husband and I do without the kids, and one for his family (2nd marriages for both of us). I run a series of Disney red albums (one for me and one for my daughter) and try to do a separate album for major trips (usually more than one week) when we go other places. Wow, no wonder I'm so behind. Sometimes I think I should cut down, but can't seem to do it. Needless to say, I take loads of pictures to spread around.

I need to finish the journaling in my wedding album

dd who's 4 1/2 - life album (all of 1st year & 2 page spread for every year after that)

dd who's 2 1/2 life album (OK, almost ALL of her 1st year needs to be done)

Christmas celebrations w/ both of our families, then added more pages per year when our girls were added to our family - just need to complete 2003

Non Disney vacations - need to be caught up

2 Reunion Albums for each side of the family - 1/2 way there waiting for more photos

8 1/2 x 11 album w/ large photos of my girls - ongoing

life before kids albums

THE ONLY one that is almost completed is my Disney album.

I used the NEW CM Power Sort Method - it will be a total of 20 hours to complete the album from start to finish ... after I finish this album I am off & running to complete the rest of them.

I have loved using ALL the Disney products CM has now.

I started scrapping about 8 years ago when my oldest was 5. My first album was of our family's first trip to WDW with the kids. My DD was 1-1/2 & DS was 4. Since then....whew!

I'm doing chronological books for both my kids.

DS has about 7 and I'm working on number 8 (I think) - he is 13.

DD has about 5 & I'm working on number 6 (again, I think - boy, this getting old stuff really wrecks your memory, doesn't it?!?!)

With the books for my kids, I went back and started at birth and have been trying to "catch up" to them ever since. I will almost get to the present time and them something will happen and I will have lots of pictures and fall way behind again!

I've got 3 WDW albums with one book having 2 trips in it and a huge stack of photos from the trip we took this January....they are crying out to be scrapped! One album of our trip to Williamsburg, VA in the summer of 2003. And I put our wedding pictures in an album when the one from the photographer fell apart....I didn't really do anything except put them in the album.

And I am working on the album from our trip to Yellowstone this summer (July). I skipped the last WDW trip and went right to work on the Yellowstone trip because everyone kept asking to see it! People who don't scrap seem to think you come home from vacation with it almost finished.......(Well, I'm just glad they want to see it!) I've actually taken a day off work tomorrow just so I can scrap all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!!

Thanks for helping me know I'm not the only one with this "affliction"

Hey Jackie........and everyone else w/all these albums....Just wondering, how do ya'll have time to do all these albums?! I took me 2 mths to finish our Key West album from last October then worked off and on on our family album -- currently at August 2003 and finally finished pictures from our 2003 family vacation to Panama City Beach, FL last month!! I'm lucky to get to do more than 1 page a day!! Between my job, the kids, house stuff, farm stuff and everything else I don't have time. There is no way I could spend 1 full day much less 3 days scrapping!! DH would have a fit, the kids wouldn't get fed, the clothes wouldn't get washed, dishes wouldn't get washed etc etc etc!!!
I jealous I can't spend time working more on my albums!! ::yes::

Karen

Well, for my 3 day marathon coming up: I took one day off work, so the kids will be at school and hubby at work. I do have an advantage in that my kids are now 13 & 10 and they don't need me looking after them that much. When my kids were smaller, I did not work and I would work on the albums during their naps or whatever. But they've both learned over the years that every once in awhile, Mom just takes some time to work on her scrapbooks! Sometimes my daughter works with me, when they were younger they would play near me, now they are old enough they are doing their own thing anyway.

But, honestly if you are working on something from August 2003, I don't think you are that far behind anyway! I have a table set up in a room in my house so I can leave everything out and go back and do some whenever I have time. When I say I will do it all day for the next 3, I will stop when the kids get home from school on Friday and will go to church twice on Sunday (I don't cook on Sunday - God gave me permission not to! :teeth: And on Saturday the wash will keep on going, I will just keep getting up every time that buzzer sounds and taking care of it. And I will stop in time to prepare dinner. But I've made up my mind for this weekend to dedicate myself to scrapping - sometimes the "fever" just takes over and I've got to give in to it!

Also, it is the only hobby I have left! I've given up needlepoint, cross-stitch, quilting and every other hobby I've ever had - but I refuse to give up scrapping! I love taking pictures and I love building scrapbooks. But unlike others, I don't plan to give mine to my kids when they are grown....those books are MINE!

When I am dead and gone then they can do with them what they will, but until that time they are mine to look at and enjoy!::yes:::D

Just so you know.... some of us are WAAAAAY behind (maybe I spent too much time watching TLC?;) )Anyhow. I have been working off and on on our WDW 2002 trip albums (one for each child) since last September. Nearly done now! Then on to the 2004 trip! And I haven't touch my children's baby albums in almost a year! But I have gotten up to date on my Dad's gardening album!! Both of my kids will be in full time school this fall, so I am hoping to start scrapping like a crazy person very soon!..............P

See, Pjilla, I don't think working on something from 2002 is way behind at all!:smooth:

When I started I was 5 years "behind", but I think it works better this way........do them when you can and when you get to them. I have never, ever "caught up"! I have never closed and book and not had more photos still to be scrapped. That would be sad, don't you think?:( I think I might go into a depression.

Currently, I have 2 whole vacations (one was 17 days, one was 8 days - so we're talking about A LOT of pictures here), my son's whole first year of jr hi school including a football season, a baseball seaon and all the other stuff that goes with it; and my daughter's gymnastics season and 4th grade year waiting on me.
But I don't think of it as "being behind" - I think of it as some fun waiting on me! If I didn't it might become a chore instead of a hobby. :teeth:

Jackie,
I SO understand exactly what you are saying concerning the hobby thing. When I was living at home late 70s and early 80s, I embroderied on EVERYTHING...then I started cross-stitching. DH and I got married continued the x-stitch, then got tired of that and started making things w/plastic canvas...then to ceramics (EXPENSIVE!) then cake decorating (Roses are HARD!) then flower arranging and finally went back to cross-stitching. I would tell everyone, I don't drink and I don't smoke but I can cross stitch like a fiend!! I LOVED it and still do but after I started having babies I was worried one of them would get a needle in the mouth or the foot and gave it up. I really like it but concern for the kids is greater ya know?!? I've always enjoyed taking pictures and just in the last 3 yrs started scrapbooking and now addicted to it!!

I don't have a spare corner in my entire house so therefore I can't keep my stuff out. I think if I had a table up where I could just go back and pick up where I left off, I'd get alot more done. One of my girlfriends has a large home w/a dinning room as well as her kitchen and breakfast nook. Since they never eat in the dinning room she has left all her scrapbook stuff out and has her oldest son's album up to date and almost finished w/Dd 12 and DD 8.

This morning I got all my stuff out to start working on my WDW album and about the time I started to decide on a layout, a client called about her trip and the rest is history!! The materials and album is still sitting out!! Maybe tonight after the kids are in bed!

I'm glad to know I have good company w/my catch up routine!!! BTW, where in AL are you from? I'm from Gallatin, a little town north of Nashville.

Have a super day!!
Karen

using the CM Power Layout Box & NOW the brand new Power Sort System.

The new Power Sort allows me to sort 2400 photos & has divididers that I can take out & put in my Power Sort Mini just the photos that I need to work on.

I love the Power Layout Box. That's what helped me get my Disney album done in 20 hours ... that 42 sides.

Judy

I agree, Judy - that Power Sort box is awesome!! I'm anxiously waiting for mine and I can get my photos out of all the bags and sorted and ready to scrap!

Right now, in progress I have:

2000 Disney vacation (argh -- will never finish)

DH's military career (21 yrs served & he's still in)

Family album (it's more like a regular photo album with misc layouts in between -- what ever sparks my fancy to scrap). However, I do have about a years worth of photos to get in there.

My GOAL: get as much of this done before we move late 2005..so I won't get further behind. I have having "TO DO LISTS" that never get finished.

I used to do only a family album, until vacations started having enough photos to fill an album of their own.

Now I have our family album, my breast cancer album, each vacation gets it's own album, DS's Scout album, and each of the kids have a small album (so they can have some photos to take with them when they leave the nest).

I'm getting ready to work on a heritage album with my mother. She has all the old pictures from her family and we need to identify them while she is still with us to help.

I'm also planning to do a Navy and an Army album with my Dad's military pictures. He's been gone for 15 years, so it's going to be a challenge.

I also plan to do a wedding/honeymoon album and an album with pictures of my family growing up one of these days on down the road. And I suppose DH will want me to deal with his childhood pictures sometime too.

Love this thread! I do my albums chronologically, and have 22, working on #23 right now. I got started in 1999 when my son was born. I have the advantage of being a stay at home mom, so I'm pretty caught up. I just finished DD baby album for her first year, and she's 13 months! ;) (I guess those power sorts wouldn't work for me....... )

Since DS is starting school, I want to start a school days album for him, and I already bought DD's so they would match.

As for theme albums, I have an album for the building of our house, and one for our WDW honeymoon.

Over time I've learned what kinds of things help me move fast on my pages. Like, I hardly ever crop my photos and when I do it's usually a circle. I also scrap while the kids are playing or while watching TV. Card tables work great! Sometimes my son "scraps" with me. He's been doing it for a few years now, and I have two 7x7 albums of his drawings that he also decorated with stickers. He doesn't do that anymore, now that he can use scissors everything gets cut up! And he's very good at using the tape runner!

:wave2:

Theoretically I only maintain one album- a yearly family album, which is split into two volumes (12x12 CM).

However, both boys have their own baby album- my pregnancy thru their first year.

We have a wedding album and two trip albums.

I did a v-e-r-y simple album for DS#1 this year that has all his kindergarten crafts/memorabilia in it. I just used the simple CM borders and then adhered the stuff down and journaled a bit. Some stickers, but nothing fancy at all. I am not sure if I will do one for every year, or maybe try and put K and 1st grade together, or what.

I just did a few 7x7 albums- well, one is done. I did a VERY simple one (only mounting pictures on paper- no cropping, stickers, diecuts, nada- just journaling) for my husband while he is away. I left one page blank for new baby's pictures. :D And I bought the Disney 7x7 CM album to do a album for my sons of our DL trip two weeks ago.

I would go c-r-a-z-y trying to keep up an album for each child. But that's just me.

Currently I have these books in progress:

My Books just for me:
- (2-- 5x7 size top loading) Of me with characters
- (2-- 8x11 size top loading) Just at Disney/Last Trip to Disney (8/11-14/04)
- Need to buy-- just everyday/high school memories

My mom's (her Christmas present from last year, but MUST keep adding to it):
- (1-- magnetic) Me and my sister/ family members/ esp. my new baby cousin, Maggie!!

Only a few?!?!?!

Karen (TN Traveler),

Sorry I'm so long in responding - but I've been scrapping!

We live in a small town just west of Tuscaloosa, AL (the home of the University of Alabama - you may not know where that is either!) called Gordo. We are almost to the MS state line.

To report on my scrapping weekend. Friday was great! No one home except me and the dog and she lay at my feet all day just glad to have company. I worked on my Yellowstone trip album all day - until time to go get the kids. I actually thought I would get back to it after I picked them up - I guess I am getting delusional in my old age....

On Saturday, I didn't even get started until 3-4 pm! Those families...they really suck up your time, don't they? LOL ;) :hyper: But I did manage to work for a few hours (the kids had to go outside and help their dad haul off a dead tree he had cut down in the yard - so that kept them busy)

On Sunday, an unexpected invite from the in-laws for lunch - which was welcome - but I didn't get home until 4 or so - so not much accomplished then either! Just hit and miss from 4 until 7.

But still! I felt like I got a lot done! I'm about half-way through the album. (I had done a good bit before this weekend.) Now if I can could only figure out how to get every Friday off........::yes::

Hey Jackie--I was going to send you a PM but system wouldn't let me so will have to post here!

Great to hear from you and yes, I do know where Tuscalossa is altho I've never been there! I'm afraid I wouldn't be welcome in town w/my UT Orange t-shirts, bumper stickers, pom poms and rest!! :earseek:

Glad you were able to get some scrapping done altho not as much as you wanted. I wanted to do some yesterday too but work took top priority. I'm a home based travel agent (don't know if I mentioned that before) and had a client call wanting a cruise for 18 people next spring and then a couple other calls that were time consuming but not like the cruise. Also I'm trying to put together a 4 or 5 day scrapbooking cruise and finding
instructors is taking alot of my time too. When I get it all together, I'm going to post here and hopefully we can get some folks on a great cruise.

My youngest daughter starts kindergarten full time next week so I'm hoping to have a little more time to scrap even if it's only a page a night after the girls are in bed. I'm almost finished w/the Magic Kingdom of my Disney album and will be starting on Animal Kingdom. I'm trying to go in time/date sequence so it'll be next.

Must run and grab the camera.......sun shinning and raining like crazy!! Should be a rainbow somewhere!!!

Have an AWESOME day!!
