How many 30+ and live alone?

When my DH passed away in 2000 that left me living alone for the first time in my life. I had lived at home till marriage and suddenly found myself one day as the only adult in the house. I have one DD living away at college and another DD in high school who is busy with school, work and boyfriend. So when I am home, it usually is by myself.

I will not say that I enjoy living alone, but it is something you get used to. For some people it can be a welcomed relief to the alternative, I am sure.

I have one single female cousin, career-gal, who will probably never marry (she's 39); and another cousin, male, who just got married for the first time and had his first baby at 35.
In talking with them over the years, there are definite pros and cons to their situations.
But neither of them wanted a serious relationship or marriage if it wasn't in the cards for them. They didn't want to force something just because society seems to say you should be married by a certain time.
I think that's the right attitude.
Honestly, if something happened to my hubby--I'd consider staying single. Who wants to jump into that dating cess-pool with all the diseases and crazies out there !!

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Didn't marry hubby 'til 33 so I was on my own with a son til then.:D

I started living on my own at about age 25 and I stayed alone until last November at the ripe old age of 44 when my fiancee moved in with me.

Talk about culture shock!

My son is with me part time, he goes to college and works, has a social life so it is me and my cat most of the time:D I love not having a spouse or roommate, Except it gets lonely at times. :D

I've got my two girls and various pets. But no one to snuggle up to.

Nobody posted yet who actually DOES live alone so I'll be first.

I'm 38.

I have 2 friends that live alone.

Barb has a dog & has lived alone most of her life (she's in her 60's now). She loves living alone. She says she can do whatever she wants all the time without having to answer to anybody.

Maryann (in her late 40's) lives alone since dumping her fiance about 10 years ago & she LOVES it. She's had some finanical difficulty at one time or another & I have suggested that she bring in a roommate but she won't even consider that since she thinks living alone is the cat's meow!
