How long has it been taking for ROFR?

Also, we're getting a contract with points left this year. We'd like to go the last week of August. Does the DVC let you reserve with just the contract number?

Welcome to the group and welcome Home!

I am not sure on the second part of your question, I would like to know also. As for the first part, it took us 2 weeks which seems to be the going rate (give or take some).

Good luck on ROFR. You can reserve once DVC has you in the system after closing.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure closing has to take place because reservations made under the former owner are canceled when the contract is transfered. That would seem to be the case for making a reservation with just the contract number. I have never had first hand experience at this though so maybe someone who has will answer.

Good luck to you! It took us about 2 weeks to go through ROFR. I was only able to book my July & Dec trips until after my points were in the system. That only took 2 days after closing for me :) You should be in the system before then (when you pass ROFR most likely) but they won't add the points to your name until after closing and that's what they need to see to book (from what the guy at MS told me when I first called)

Our resale contract for BCV went in on 6-1-04, the closing agent received approval on 6-14-04 and we received word on 6-15-04. I have been told that DVC will put you in the system and allow ressies when they receive confirmation that the deed has been recorded with Orange County. I think I was told this usually takes about 5-10 days after closing. I hope things work out for you for late August because we are planning our first trip home in mid-Sept.

Good Luck!!

I've been dealing with similar issues. We're looking into buying, but would like to use the points we buy in early November, when we plan to visit. All of the brokers told me similar information. Reservations can't be booked until the sale is completed. This is a concern of mine because others have told me they had problems booking on such short notice (especially for the larger units). I had thought it wouldn't be a problem outside of peak season but now I am not so sure. Has anyone heard similar problems with booking only 2 or 3 months in advance.

Thanks.:earsgirl:

I know it wasn't DVC resorts, but I was able to book GC at DL about 55 days out last month after I closed my resale. Last year a friend had a room reserved in May at OKW about 40 days out. I was warned that it could be really hard to get the 1st week of Dec even 6 months out, but I was able to get exactly what I wanted then too. Good luck and if you are more flexible where you stay you might be okay :)
