How long to get VISA Rewards points?

O.k. DON'T let this happen to you. I am SO mad, and it's my own fault, but somehow I missed my last payment on my Disney Visa. I found out the day after it was due, so it wasn't that late or enough to screw up my credit, but I still don't know where that bill is. My dd20mos probably grabbed it off the table and threw it behind the couch. Anyhow, when I called to pay the bill it said I had 0 rewards points when actually I have 88. So I spoke to someone and she said, "Oh you have to wait until July 21 (payment was due again today) or maybe it was the 25th to get your points back even if you make your payment." Grrrrr.... So, we leave for FL on Aug. 3. Do you think we will get them before we leave? That's like 2 weeks away.

I think it takes one or 2 days after your billing cycle. So if it's July 25th you should be okay. I will be transferring my points next week too. :goodvibes

Marcie, do you already have the rewards card or whatever it is? This will be the first time we are using them.

Tara, yes, we used it on our last cruise. You haven't ordered a card yet? That takes longer then just transferring points.

No, I don't have a card yet. I wonder if I can order it w/out the points, then they can put them on. I'll hit the link above and see. Thanks!

Whaaaaaaaaa!!! I need a minimum of 20 pts. to order the card. I cannot believe they wiped out all my points until the 26th! I've never been late on this before, and it figures it's the one time that really matters. :Pinkbounc :sad2:

Are you saying if you are late with a payment, they wipe off your points?
I'm a little confused, sorry.

When I ordered my card I had it within a week, so maybe you will be lucky.

You get the points back once you pay and then pay for the next month. On paper I have 88 points, but when I check online and call, it currently says I have 0 points. So both months are paid up, but they won't give me my points back until the billing cycle ends on July 26. I just can't believe it.

OK! I understand now! Good luck with it!

You can pick up your rewards card at Guest Services at Downtown Disney, and you can make a phonecall while you're there and transfer your rewards dollars to the card.

I have a Disney Visa card, and I really do not understand how the points work, where I can use them?, and when I should cash them in? Right now I have ninety-six points. Can I use them on the cruise? I cruise in September.
Do you have to purchase disney merchandise with them only?

Thanks

Patti

You can use the rewards dollars at Disney theme parks and resorts, and at The Disney Store. Since you don't pay for things with cash on a cruise, other than tips, I suppose you could pay for charges onboard with your rewards card and cover any additional expenses with a credit card or cash.

You need to have the rewards card in order to have your rewards dollars "loaded" onto it. You can get one by calling Chase, or you might be able to order it online. I would wait until the last billing cycle closes just before your cruise to transfer the maximum amount of rewards dollars to the card.

so DCL accepts Disney VISA Rewards card? i thought i read somewhere that DCL computers aren't programmed yet to handle the Visa Rewards card???

has that changed? if so, is it accepted for everything or just certain things on the cruise??

since it's all charged to your room keycard, i'm guessing when you pay the bill at the end of the cruise, they will accept the Rewards card and whatever leftover you just cover with credit card? True?

I don't know this for a fact - but since people give a charge card to cover onboard expenses, I assume that one could use Disney Visa Rewards dollars first, and pay for the balance with a credit card or cash. I could be wrong.

I took my rewards card to guest services on the cruise and had them apply the points to my onboard account. They did and gave me a reciept for the transaction. We had several excursions and gratuities for 5 people, so I knew we would use them all up.

Thank you for the reply. So I will call for the card, and call again to get the points transferred to the card, or do I do it together. Is one point worth one dollar???

Thanks

You can also pick one up at Town Hall in the MK, as my astonished DH found out :rotfl: ...after my telling him it never hurt to call and ask how I could handle having left my card at home. Then, as above, you call Chase and have them transfer the points to your new card.

Yes, you can use your Disney Rewards Card to pay for your cruise, or to pay for things ON your cruise. As the other poster mentioned, just stop by Guest Services on the ship, give them your card, and tell them that you'd like any charges you make taken off your Rewards Card first, then whatever credit card you use to back it up with (probably your Disney VISA!). They can access the number of points you have--I was able to do that almost 3 years ago, so I'm certain it's not a problem. Also, you can use those points (points=dollars) to actually pay towards the balance of the cost of your cruise when you pay it off (don't do this if you're hoping to get the onboard credit for paying in full with your Disney VISA Card). It does take about a week to get that card through the mail (yes, you can order it online, but you have to have at least 20 points to transfer to a new card). If you're running up against time to go, I'd call Chase and talk to them directly--don't try to do stuff online. You don't want to miss that card--having it show up in your mailbox the day after you leave will not make you happy. :rotfl: GOOD LUCK!
