How long to add on points at sold out resort?

We just bought 150 BCV from the Disney waitlist as our first DVC purchase two weeks ago.

I assume minimum points is 150 for a new member, and that it's the standard $89/pt (for now at least, presumably higher after June). Do you call, place a deposit, and wait? Do they charge your deposit right away? How much is the deposit, and is it ever refundable if you don't get what you are waiting for? Can you ever back out without losing the deposit?

That is correct. You call your guide, get on the list, and give your credit card info. Your card is not charged until you get your points. Deposit is $500 and is refunded if you no longer want the points. (Some people check their credit card charges daily because the charge will show up before Disney calls you )

And if you are already a DVC member, is everything still the same, except that you have the option to go as low as 25 points?

I think so.

Can you waitlist for a range of UY months, or just one specific one?

You can ask for a particular month, (that usually takes longer) or you can ask for any month that comes up. We said we would take any UY, and we waited 33 days.

And once you get your waitlist, are MF prorated to when the deed passes into your name?

I don't know this one, we have an April UY, we are supposed to close on June 3, and we haven't been charged any MF yet. Hopefully someone else can help on this one.

We purchased 150 at BWV in February, and the MF were prorated from the day that the points came in and we available in our account.

We have great news for the BWV waitlist! We have been DVC members at OKW since 1995. Because we also enjoy BWV, we wanted some points there so that we can get some days at the 11 month window. Soooo.........we got on the waitlist for 50 points at BWV (April Use Year) on April 22. I learned on Tuesday, May 3rd while trying to get a BWV resy for December that our waitlisted points had come through!! It took only 11 days!!!!

The good news came in a surprising way. The CM making the resy really confused me at first when he told me that I now had 49 BW points left after the exchange from OKW since I didn't know that I had any BW points. I had not been contacted by my guide because she is on her way to CA DVC. I was warned that I might not hear from her when the points cames through, but the guide I spoke with also told me that the BW waitlist points had been coming through pretty quickly.

The package for signatures arrived today! We are now happy owners of the Magic at both OKW and BWV (or will be officially when we pay the rest of the balance and sign the papers)!!! Good luck on your waitlist requests!

I have been trying to reach my guide about an OKW add on, February use year. It looks like everyone is waiting for BCC or BWV. Anyone had any luck with OKW?

I was wondering the same thing. I did read a post a while back that said at one point Disney had 2000 OKW points so you could call and get them right away, but that may be old info?

FYI, if you can't reach your guide and really want to buy more points, other guides can and will help you. This happened to us. Our guide was on her way to CA DVC so another helped me get on the wait list. I believe that your guide of record still has to follow up (and also gets the "credit"), but as some others have posted we received the documents by FedEx and have yet to receive a phone call from our guide confirming that the wait list came through. I doubt that we will ever be called now, but that's OK, we have our points!

We got our points!!!

We just got back from a week at Panama City Beach. Before we left our guide told me Oct BWV points would be coming in on Monday (5/9). I gave him my cell phone number and sure enough on Tuesday he called and said he had 100 of the 150, but was trying to work it out for me to get all 150. By Thursday he called back and said he had all 150 pts for us, but they were in 3 50 pt contracts. That is actually a good deal IMO.

Yipppppeeeee! Now with our 150 VWL and 240 BWV the planning begins.
