Anyone recommend someone through the F&F deal, and how long did it take to get your "reward"? :confused3

You certainly won't get any reward until the person has closed their contract based on our past experience. Then, it was probably within about two months of their closing as I recall (about 6 weeks was my recollection).

I had also started a similar thread a few weeks ago.

My brother bought a few days after the promo started and closed Nov. 30th. I have yet to receive any correspondence/certificate. I also referred someone on the boards and they have also closed but have not heard anything.

Some have received their referrals - I was told I was entitled to it - so not sure how they are working this whole thing.

I talked to ms and they told me about 2 months after the closing. Well hopefully it will be somewhere around there.

Wow, two months after closing? I wonder what Disney would do if you were two months late on your dues?

You owe them the dues. They don't owe you a darned thing, and, in fact, never have to even come through with anything (though it would be bad business practice to do that). Furthermore, many people find out later that they were not eligible for the referral either because of the state they live in or because the referred party had had some contact with DVC before that had been documented (this happens a lot). They are still giving the F&F discount in the latter case, but I don't think they are bending on their normal referral rules otherwise. Remember: A beggar can't be choosy. If you get something, it's a bonus. If you don't, you have exactly what you started with (unless the referrer did something shady in terms of "selling" their referral as some people have offered to do in the recent past).

We had friends close on their contract over a year ago and the only thing we received was a letter from our vacation guide. I thought we should get the reward soon after the thank you letter. I ended up calling the vacation guide and he told me that because of our state laws(Maine), Disney was not allowed to reward us. I told him we would be there in March 06 and asked if there wasn't a way we could atleast get rewarded in complimentary meals or passes. He said that wasn't possible but that we could still refer people. I told him that we wouldn't bother going to the trouble if there was no benefit for us.

I told him that we received complimentary meals both time we bought points and that I felt like once they get you sold, they forget about you unless you keep buying points. We started with 210 @ BCV and purchased an additional 100 the following year and paid cash for both purchases.

Well, I'm just making a darned statement!

Actually if you do refer someone and they do buy, you are entitled to this if you are from a state that allows the compensation. That is the offer and they have to stand by it. I get mail from DVC stating what I get if I refer someone who buys and they have to honor that. It is offered from Disney and not something I am asking for that is extra. It would be foolish if they didn't give you what you have coming to you, because it could mean they might not get another sale through you in the future and you will tell others how they did not honor the agreed up terms for the referral. If it takes a while, fine, but to not give it to you is a huge mistake as a business decision.
