How long is wdw decorated for xmas?

We will be arriving on New Years Eve and I was wondering if the holiday decorations will still be up. When do they take them down? Also we will be arriving early evening on NYE and we have PS at MGM's sci-fi dine at 8pm. I am worried that we will not be let in if the park is at capacity even though we will be staying on property. What do you think...does anyone have experience with this? Because it is a holiday we will be charged $10 per person at the restaurant if we don't show or cancel 48 hrs prior. Thanks....Marilyn

I believe the "unofficial" end is the same as the end of the Holiday rates for the hotels which would be 12/31/03. That is when they will start taking the decorations down.

I would think about dinner outside the park ( Boardwalk if you can get a PS) My guess would be that you will not be able to show up at MGM at 5 or 6 PM and expect to get in. Parks are open to resorts guests after they close the lots and to ouside guests, but at 5/6 PM I don' think anyone is going to be leaving.


We are book for 8 PM dinner at EPCOT, and plan on getting to the park about 1 PM

DH and I were there this January (2003). We stayed at POFQ and noticed the decorations were up way longer than the park decorations. We were there about the 3-12 of January. We did see Magic Kingdom, MGM, and Epcot decorations the first few days of the trip. If you are staying on property, you may notice your resort's decorations up longer. Have a great time. Dawn
