Anybody stayed at Windsor Hills before? We are going next week and I'm trying to figure out what time I need to leave Windsor Hills to get to MK before rope drop? We will be driving and plan to be at the turnstile around 7:45 A.M. since MK is open at 8 A.M. If we leave Windsor Hills at 7:15 A.M. we will be at the parking lot at 7:25 A.M., then we need to take the tram and the monorail and we will be at the turnstile at 7:45 A.M.?? Or do I need to leave earlier? Also how do we get to MK from Windsor Hills? Any shortcut? Thanks...

We stayed at Windsor Hills twice over the last few years. It's a really short drive, I believe it was about 5 minutes to Disney or so. I think there is a way I read here that takes you even faster. I would allow at least 10 minutes tho in case of traffic, cant remember exactly as my hubbie drove but it was quick and its a FABULOUS place! You'll LOVE it there. Have fun!

We stayed at Windsor Hills a few weeks ago and loved it!! Here are the directions the owner gave to us as a shortcut from there.

SHORTCUT TO DISNEY
To take the short cut to disney. Take Old Lake Wilson
Road back towards the 192, but take a left on
Morgan-Wilson. Take the next left onto to Funnie
Steed. At the stop sign take a right on Entry Point/Sherbath
road. Take Sherbath over the 192 and continue on into
Disney. It will only take you about 3-5 minutes to
get there.

On the way back from Disney, follow the signs for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. At the traffic lights before the lodge take a left onto Sherbath. You will also see the sign for the 192.

Hope that helps!!

don't go on an EMH day....

then because you have to be going when it is crowded - I would leave at 7:00am.

yes the short cut is great - but Sherabeth Road can and does get stopped....

I was on it last month for over 30 minutes... not even a wreck - well I didn't see one - just that much traffic.....

considering this road is about 1/2 mile - that is a very, very long time....

Disney can be mean about their transportation - sometimes they will let offsite in to the MK - other times they don't even start the express monrail until opening..... (the resort monrail is different).

Thank you for all of your responses. This board is great. I hope I won't get traffic on Sherberth Road at 7 A.M. in the morning.

I think you'll be fine, we didn't have any problems. I guess it could get like that if there are a lot of things going on like marathon or food and wine festival at epcot. :)

We are headed to Windsor Hills in Nov! :cool1: It's great to read everyone's good experiences there.

Here is a cool little map that depicts the location of various villa communities in relation to wdw. Windsor Hills in number 71!

It was about 12 minutes from our windsor hills townhouse to the TTC parking lots. We got back to the townhouse before the Wishes soundtrack in the car's CD player ended. ;)

We only took Sherbeth to AK. We took World Drive to the other parks. For AK, Sherbeth is clearly a win. For the others, it's probably six of one, half dozen of the other.

So once I'm on Sherberth Rd. , it would have signs to go to AK, MK, Epcot, etc... right?

Not quite. Sherberth road curves around a bit, and you'll reach a stoplight. To the left is Animal Kingdom Lodge, straight is for Disney CM's, and right will get you to all of the parks (AK included). After you turn right at this light, you can follow Disney signs, but since this is not a main entrance, there aren't really signs at this light.

It's really easy, but definitely remember to follow signs for AK Lodge when returning at night. You'll reach a point where about 3 lanes will enter the AK parking lot, and one continues on the left side to AK Lodge and back to the stoplight at Sherberth Rd, but we saw many cars turning into the AK parking lot mistakenly at night, and having to turn around somehow (it was after AK was closed).

Oh, and I'd leave one hour before the time you want to be in Magic Kingdom. You never know when you'll just miss a monorail and will have to wait for the next one, which doesn't run as frequently at opening, I've found. If you end up catching a monorail right away, you just get there 15 minutes early, and you're closer to the front of the lines to enter the park! We've driven from this area on 6 trips, so I speak from experience.

Brian,

I consider your WDW advice excellent ... usually. But can this be right? To take World Drive, you stay on 192 for another couple of miles, right? Our experience was that at some times of the day 192 moved at a crawl. It might take two or 3 cycles to get through a traffic signal. So we figured getting off ASAP (onto Sherbeth) was best. What am I missing here? :confused3

Hi minnymi,

Hope you have a great time. I'll be staying there in two weeks, please report back, and tell us how you liked it. Are you staying in a condo, or town house? I'm wondering if the pool at the clubhouse is as impressive as looks on their web site?

Have a great time, and thanks to others also on the shortcuts.

Hi, just got back from 3 months in Indian Ridge, just south of Windsor Hills...we always took Sherberth via Entry Point. We turned at Westgate Blvd then right onto Entry Point just before the entrance to Westgate...

As Spicycat said, Sherberth seemed to get very busy going away from Disney about 4 to 5:30 PM. I am guessing this is when a lot of Disney employees were getting off work...otherwise it was always pretty clear going in...more and more people are using it but it still beats fighting 192...If, and only if, 192 is clear, it is probably about as quick to go through the 3 lights on 192 and into
Disney entrance about 3 miles south of Sherberth as it brings you into more the center of Disney than the far west end at AK.

Enjoy...Ted

But can this be right?
We didn't encounter much in the way of traffic; there are only maybe 2 lights between Old Lake Wilson and World Drive. We were there the week *after* P-Week this year, and so that may be why we never felt held up.
