How long from MK to FW?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me approximately how long it takes, on average, to take the boat from the MK to Fort Wilderness? We are thinking about having lunch at Trail's End while we're there, but I'm not sure if the savings in money would be worth the expense in time? If it takes more that 15 minutes each way, we'd probably be better off eating at LTT. Any opinions?

The boat does a circle among MK WL and FW. Dependingon the time of day. from MK the boat goes from MK to FW and WL.

So the time on the boat round trip is probably 15-20 minutes. If you just miss the boat (and there are two boats operating), you could be waiting another 10 minutes for the boat.

Therefore, worst case would be spending 40 minutes riding/waiting on the boat.

We used it from MK to FW for the HDDR. We waited maybe 15 minutes for a ferry to go over - then about a 10-15 minute ride. However, coming back from HDDR to MK took forever. The show got out about 6:45 p.m. and we had plans to take the ferry to MK, then the monorail to Epcot for Illuminations. Well - by the time the ferry actually came (the line was very long), then the ride over - we didn't get back on land until about 8:20. So we didn't even bother.

So maybe it just depends on the time of day and the amount of people - there were lots since the show had just gotten out.
