Typically a day or two. If it was done over the weekend, maybe three or four days.

It may also depend on when the company settles their accounts. If you they settle daily then it should only be a couple days. If it takes them several days to settle it could hold on longer.

It can also depend on your bank. I am aware of "holds" being anywhere from 3 to 10 business days depending on the bank. This is part of what I do at my job, so I am aware of things like this. We settle our transactions every night as I'm sure most businesses do, with the possible exception of mom and pop size businesses.
