We recently joined DVC and live out here on the West Coast :hippie: . Looks like much of the DVC membership is East of the Mississippi. I'm interested to see the average time it takes you to get to WDW.
Do you usually fly :tink: or drive :drive:?

I live in edinburgh, Scotland.

I leave my home at 1200uk time (EST +5) and drive to Edinburgh Airport. Catch a flight to london. Stay overnight in london airport hotel (no direct flights to the world from Edinburgh) Catch the 1130 virgin flight to MCO. Arrive at 1630 EST. Wait about an hour to get through immigration. another 30 mins on luggage and car hire then another 30mins or so dirve to WDW. Get there about 1900hrs.

So in total its about 36hrs. I'm not alone. A goodly number of fellow brits have this journey.

Getting to the airport about 1 hour, waiting at the airport average about 3 1/2 hours, flight 8 1/2 hours, arriving at the airport 1 hour, drive to WDW about 1/2 hour so in all about 14 1/2 hours :teeth:

Claire ;)

When we fly, 2 hours. When we drive, 16 hours.
Both ways are pains in the neck, so the 2 hours usually wins out.

We drive and it takes about 8.5-9.0 hours. We just love having our car with us and being able to drive from resort to resort (or anywhere) without being dependent upon the Disney buses.

We always fly. It is about a 2 housr flight.

We like having our car, too. Our drive is about 13 hours.

With traffic, it's about 35 minutes :)

We are also among those who like having a car so we mainly drive 15 hours. If we fly then 2 hour flight:goodvibes

We live in NC. We usually drive but have flown at least 5 times. It takes about 1 hr 45 mins to fly. We have driven several trips and it takes average 10 1/2 to 11 hrs. Once we made it in 9 1/2:thumbsup2 DW was driving and she and other NASCAR drivers have a lot in common;) Seriously, we made good time as we limited stops and just had great traffic flow, plus no construction, time of night, etc. Hoping for another one like that real soon.

We fly from Baltimore- It is about a 2 hour flight. That amounts to about 5 hours door to door travel time, meaning from the time I leave my house until I hear "Welcome Home!".

If we drove it would be about 15 hours I think.

It is about a 2 hour flight or a 20 hour drive (which we break up into 2 days). We usually do one road trip a year and fly any other time.

We are about 9 hours away, although with limited stops, 80 mph and eating lunch in the car we made it in 8 hours last week. We have the car but never use it on property until we leave, we leave the transporting to Disney.

Drive in.. 10 hours.. not too bad, when we can we'll split the drive up into 2 5 hour rides.

The one time we went we drove and it took us four travel days. We liked the kids to really see the country so we sauntered, I guess you could say. It takes two days just to cross Texas..if we could remove Texas it would be much quicker :)
I'd like to take the train next time, but since Katrina there have been fights over rail repair past NO, so that has no reopen date in sight, so I guess we'll fly. I think it would be about six hours after we get to the airport (1 12 hr to drive to El Paso, 3 1/2 hour drive to Albuquerque) a whole day basically...
