How long does it take to see Hollywood Studios?

How long do you have to wait stand-by for TSM if you're not getting there until after 11:00 A.M.? Or have you found that there are still FastPasses available? Do you FP rock n rollercoaster? How do you fit in Indy, Mermaid, & Beauty & the Beast shows between 11 & 6, especially taking time out for a sit-down meal for lunch...we've never been able to see more than 2 shows in a day there because it always seems like the schedules overlap too much...very frustrating. What's your secret?

It's just my husband and I - we have no children so maybe that's why we see and do everything there a little faster - ha - ha-ha. We do not do the meet and greet with the characters. We always see the Mermaid show and the Beauty iand the Beast show in the early afternoon and we leave Indiana Jones for the evening. We have not been back to this park since February 08 so we have yet to do Toy Story Mania - we will have to try it when we go in October and December. Whatever you planning schedule is have fun and enjoy. For us Hollywood Studios is not an all day park but that's just my humble opinion.

We are "budgeting" from Rope Drop to early afternoon to do HS.

In our case, I'm not sure we're even going to try to get on TSM -- rushing with a huge crowd toward something I'm not even sure my DD7 will like isn't really my cup of tea.

We're mostly looking forward to the shows. In fact, I don't think we have ANY rides on our list. We want to do:

Beauty & The Beast
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Muppetvision 3-D
Whatever HSM show they're doing at the time

Has anyone successfully navigated that many shows at HS in that timeframe?

Can't imagine you DD wouldn't like TSM; even if she's a princessy kind of gal!

Darn! I was hoping you'd tell me the stories about all the TSM FP's being gone an hour after park were open weren't true! Really wish that there were FP's available for TSM after noon...rats. Guess we have to get there at rope-drop after all...although we're debating whether we really, really HAVE to do that ride this time. Maybe we'll skip it instead of dashing for FP's first thing.

We've always avoided the meet & greets, too, even when kids were little. They always got a bigger kick out of the character meals, anyway it was a lot nicer to wait for characters sitting down, in air conditioning & being fed too!

Our "baby" is 19 yrs. old so we don't technically have kids with us either, but our timing must just be off, cuz we've never managed to do B & B show and Mermaid show in the same day with Indy Stunt show. We missed B & B in May, and I've seen rumors that it's soon to be no more so it's our priority for early September trip. And this trip is just DH & I, so no kids, big or little with us to slow us down

My wife and I go down without our children now (married and college) and we take our time enjoying the rides we like. We don't go through all things because some are lousy. But we do Indiana Jones, Star tours, Muppets, Beauty & the Beast show, Ariel, Great movie ride, Stunt tours, back lot ride, and the fireworks at night. We also eat 2-3 times during the day!!!! We enjoy HS more than AK!

That's good to hear, kaybird!

We've yet to see Toy Story all the way through because she doesn't like how the kid next door treats the toys. Takes things very personally, does my DD.

It's more that I'm not sure we want to be in the middle of what sounds like really big crowds on New Year's Eve to get to TSM, especially when it wasn't even on our radar until I came on to the DIS boards. I want to focus on what we really think we will like, rather than being swept up in new ride enthusiasm -- they're ALL new to us!

Just back and went to DHS on August 12, 17 and 21 during our trip. On the 12th, the park was absolutely packed and on the other days it was also very busy.

On the 12th and 17th, TSM FP's were gone by 11:30, RRRC was hour long wait by 10, and several shows were filled. We have gone several times before in August, and this was the most crowded I have ever seen this park. I do think that TSM is drawing alot of people to this park. If you want to ride, TSM do rope drop or expect to wait a long time (we got a FP and also rode at rope drop - by the time we used our FP at 9:50 or so, the standby line was 50 minutes and only got longer).

On the 21st, in the heavy rain, the rush to TSM was huge (still, I got the very first FP ) We again did a FP and standby. By the time we used our FP at 10, standby was 50 minutes and FP return time was 1. Again, this was a morning with pouring rain.

DHS is hard to do in one day - WDW does not stagger its show times as well as other parks (SW and US do a better job). To see it all, you need at least 1.5 days.

I have to agree with BAST. Rope drop is an absolute necessity, and even then, by the time we made it onto the line for TSM FP, there was a twenty minute wait just for FP's. When we returned to ride well before 12:00, FP's were already gone for the day.

Two times we tried to see Indiana Jones, and didn't get there early enough to make it in. The park was very busy on the 13th. TSM is well worth doing though, everyone in my family enjoyed it.
