How long does it take to buy?

Just say I saw a resale on 1st Feb and reserved it...I could pay by cash or credit card that day for the whole lot...how long does it take for the thing to be completed...when could I be booking up?

This is because we are in WDW in 3 weeks time over from UK....I have another trip booked for Oct 04 ( thats the one I would like DVC for )...Can the time share companies show you round say OKW or BCV so you can see what you are buying? Is there a lot of paper work etc?

1) 1-3 weeks to get seller to sign and return offer
2) 2-5 weeks for Disney to do ROFR review and release
3) 1-3 weeks for closing

NOTE: I have heard of deals being completed within 30-days, but this is VERY rare. For a DVC, I'd consider *a usual* 5-7 weeks. The unknown is the time Disney takes to do the ROFR, as they have 30-days, not counting paperwork transit time.

As far as I know, when you buy re-sale they will NOT accept credit cards.Buying through DVC they accept credit cards.

When we bought our resale this Fall, they said no credit cards, but DID accept our Disney Visa "convenience check". I don't know what the difference is to them, but didn't argue.

Thanks for that i will take along credit card checks that are the same as checks when I go just in case. It really depends if what I want is available at the time.

Since you are from the UK...I wanted to make you aware that there are a LOT of timeshare resellers located all around the WDW area. Many may not be the most reputable of businesses. I certainly would make appointments only with resellers you have contacted prior to leaving the UK.

While I bought directly from Disney in 1992, many members on these boards have purchased through resales. I would be sure to read many threads here and only use those resellers with which DISboard members had positive experiences.
