It's been a year and 3 mos. since my surgery, and i can still see them. The scars are white but the area around them is reddish/pink. I thought they'd be gone by now.

Wow, my mother had hers done this past July and hers are still very red and it actually has re opened up twice!

I also did want to ask you, if you had lost alot of weight since you had it done? My mother has had to change her eating habits and has lost almost 75lbs. She looks great but is worried at the same time.

You can see my scars, they are faded to white though. Took a few yrs. I guess it has been about 9yrs since I had the surgery.

Most surgical scars take over a year to fade to that silvery white color.

Your scars will be partly how well you heal , partly how good the surgeon was at closing and partly time allowed to fade.

Most scars don't go away. Mederma worked very well for me. Some say Vitamin E or Cocoa Butter. Try it all, can't hurt! But again, I had great results on more than one scar using Mederma. Expensive though.

My scars were"glued", not stitched, don't know if that makes a difference.
I think I will try the merderma. I just don't like them.

Mickeyistheman- to answer your question, initially I lost a few pounds after the surgery, but have since gained it back. I was not overweight to begin with. I haven't changed too much about my diet, but I can't have too much greasy or fast food-it makes me feel sick.
