How long does it normally take to hear back about renting points?

I'm just curious as to what to expect. The past couple days I have thrown my hat into the ring in a couple of rental posts. We have our flight booked and I want to make sure we have a place to stay when we get there. Our vacation is during F&W and I'm afraid if I wait too long I might not be able to get a room on site. Suggestions and advice is more than welcome.

Also, as you might have guessed, this is my first time attempting to rent points :-)

If the owners haven't responded at all, there may be no availability for whatever you asked for. F&W dates book up 11 months out at the Epcot resorts. I probably would not have booked a flight yet unless you have an acceptable alternate plan. But it really just depends on the owner- how busy they are, how anxious they are or aren't to get rid of their points. I don't think there is a standard timeframe. You might try working with the brokers as well as individual posters.

Great points. We have looked into brokers and I'm waiting to hear back from one. It also wouldn't be the end of the world if we stayed at a moderate or value resort. I'm just wondering how long I should wait before booking through an alternate venue. We are such disney newbies we didn't even realize it was F&W until I saw it mentioned here in a different thread. Lol

I would book a cancellable alternate now and keep trying in the meantime.

Me too! I recently went through the same thing. I had a room only reservation at POR booked, while I scoped out the rent trade board. When i did find a renter that matched what i needed, i had a reservation within 12 hrs of responding to the posting. But i was the first person to respond, i was able to look up availability on my own because i am a dvc member, and my need matched almost exactly the number of points available. Once i got my reservation i canceled and revived a full refund of my POR reservation through AAA.

Sent from my phone using DISBoards Ap, please excuse any typos and autocorrect mistakes.

If you were trying for the BWV or BCV, you won't be able to get anything at all. I had to waitlist one night at the BWV and got that, but it was weeks ago. You have a slight chance with SSR or OKW or maybe AkV, but even those are going to be hard to get.

I would not count on getting anything at BWV for F&W. We own there and booked our dates at 11 months out. A few weeks later I tried to add a few days, but had to waitlist. It still hasnt come through!

I agree that you should book something as a back up in case you cant get what you want. Good luck.

Thank you everyone! Very helpful information/advice. We heard back from the rental broker today and went with SSR. In the end we decided it was better to pay the $14/ppt to do reserve it now than try to keep waiting. Either way, I am very excited about the trip!

SSR is great, we own there. Not as convenient as BWV or BCV for Food and Wine, but still great.
