How long does dinner take at Palo?

I know everyone's experience will be a little different, but I am trying to figure out about how long it will take to have dinner at Palo. We have late seating on our upcoming cruise. Is it possible to have a 6:30 Palo reservation, and still make the restaurant at 8:30 with our boys? We are not big dessert eaters, so we could easily skip it at Palo. Curious to hear about how long it took others to dine there.

No doubt, and especially if you miss dessert, you will definitely be done at Palo within 2 hours....

Plan on at least an hour and a half, so you should be able to make the 8:30pm seating with your boys.....we ate there in August and ordered the chocolate soufle'(sp?) which takes about 30 to 45 minutes to prepare and we didn't get out until around 10pm after an 8:30pm sitdown .... Andy

I think we were is Palo from 8:30 p.m. until nearly 11 p.m.

I don't know how old your kids are. Our kids were 10 and 12 at the time. Here's what we did...

We went to the 6:30 p.m. Walt Disney Theatre show and a 7:45 p.m. family cabaret show with the kids.

Then at 8:30 p.m., my wife and I dined at Palo, while our kids dined at Lumiere's without us. (It was later in the week, and we made sure ahead of time that the servers were okay with serving the kids without my wife and I being there.) It turned out to be a real treat for the kids to dine without their parents.

In answer to your actual question, yes, you could dine ay Palo at 6:30 p.m., and you could let the servers know that you have less than two hours. You could then go to your rotation dining room with your kids. However, you'll miss the show in the Walt Disney Theatre, and you won't be hungry at your rotation dining room.

Thanks for the info. I think my plan might work: unless our first restaurant is Lumiere's (I don't want to skip that restaurant), I was hoping to get the first seating at Palo on the first night. I'm guessing that this won't be such a tough time slot to get? I really don't care to see the variety show, so I won't mind missing it. The kids (who are 12 & 14) can go to the show without us. We can all meet back in the cabin after dinner/show, then head off to our first rotation dinner together. DH and I can just get a drink while the boys eat. By the time they are ready for dessert, we might want to get something along with them.

If we are scheduled to eat at Lumiere's the fist night, we will try for later in the week, maybe with the plan Horace Horsecollar suggested.

It's not technically "double dipping" if we don't eat twice, is it? There is no way we could eat two dinners in one night!

It just seems that we'll miss the least amount of "fun stuff" by eating at Palo the first night. I can't send the kids off to dinner on their own at that point, and it would be nice to meet the servers at the start of the trip. And since I bought a new dress just for Palo, skipping it altogether is not an option!
