How long do you have?

My husband and I have made the decision to buy into DVC. We still need to talk to our rep and get "official" numbers. What I was wondering was is how long does it usually take once you talk to your rep? I know they have to go through the approval process, get paperwork sent to and from us, and pay the down payment. I was just wondering b/c of the current incentives. Even if they change them will we still get the current if our paperwork was started now?

Disney has sent me DVC paperwork through Fed Ex and I received it the next day. If you Fed Ex it back to Disney, my guess is you can wrap it up in a week. We have also gone by the DVC office at Saratoga Springs during one of our vacations and purchased points in person. The paperwork was completed in the office in less than 30 minutes and the points were in my DVC account that afternoon. Buying directly through Disney is quick and simple. If you start the paperwork now, Disney will honor the current incentives even if they change the next day.

Yes, you will. AND, what's even better is that if the incentives get better between now and the time your contact actually closes, you can amend your contract to take advantage of the better incentives.

It can take about a month or so from start to finish to actually close your contract.

However, when buying direct from Disney, once the deposit is made, you will be able to make a reservation with those points usually in just a few days. And, if you want to visit at a busy time and are concerned about what will be left, you can even mention that to the guide that you are really hoping to still get a particular one.

Sometimes, so many have said, that guides are able to do a little "magic" to get a reservation for that new buyer.

We spoke to our Guide for the first time on a Friday evening. he wen tover the pricing with me and called me back the following day. He approved our credit alomost instantly and before we hung up stayed on the line with me to make reservations with MS--about 20 minutes. That Tuesday after, we received our paperwork in the mail, had it notorized on Wednesday, mailed back to DVC on Thursday....on their desk Friday. We were motivated to get our points....can you tell. Then it took about a month to get our final paperwork.

I picked up the phone to say "yes, we're buying!" December 16th. We had the paperwork FEDEX-ed and signed back to Disney within a week. Our guide was able to secure a reservation for us with Member Services somewhere within that one week period. We sent final payment (did not finance) right before Christmas (December 23). So when all was said and done, 1 week and we had our first reservation at our first choice resort!

Yes - if the deals get better they will change it for you.
