How long do expired tickets hold value?

Hello DISboarders!

We had BLT reservations for the whole extended family for this past April, including 9-day park hoppers. We're probably going to Vero next spring, so it may be April 2022 before we get back to WDW and have an opportunity to use those tickets. They will have expired. How long after a ticket expires can I apply its value to the purchase of another? Does it matter if they were purchased at one of the online discount ticket sellers?

At least if purchased through Disney, the price paid for unused date-specific tickets can be applied to the purchase of future tickets. There is no stated time limit to your ability to do that. Also note, that as part of the Covid modifcations, any date-specific tickets that were purchased for use during the time the parks were closed are extended to be used at any time on or before September 26, 2021 without having to pay extra (and if unused by then, you can apply the purchase price to future tickets).

What I do not know is what impact purchasing from an outside discount seller has on those rules.

My experience has been that the same rules would apply if purchased through an authorized ticket reseller. I'd post the name of the company but not sure if it would violate any Disboard rules.
