I know many have said to "keep calling back" to try to get an ADR for the restaurant or time they've wanted. I have been calling everyday, twice a day, since Thursday to try to get into Chef Mickey's in April. (who eats at 9:00 at night...really?) Should I keep calling up until the day we leave, (I will) or give up? What are my chances? Thanks!

If it's that important to you I'd continue calling, right up until the day you want the reservation. Frequently people cancel and change their plans and something could open up for you!

Did you post that you are looking for this in the Canceled ADR thread for April? Someone here may be able to work a trade with you or may just give you the reservation.

For our last trip, I made my ADRs at 180 days out yet closer to the trip I wanted to change to Boma. I called every day (sometimes twice a day) for weeks and kept calling even after we arrived. :rolleyes1

Yes I did---thanks for the reply

I know it seems strange, but for our December trip last year I really wanted a CM dinner reservation for the Saturday night we were there. I had been calling since October and no luck. Then I get to Orlando, call that Friday morning from our hotel and I was able to get a table!

This also happened the year before. I don't know if it's luck or maybe they know you're calling from the area but maybe you can give that a try?

Well, we eat later when at WDW, and I have actually asked for the later times since we found ourselves in your situation once, and we realized it was actually better. We have plenty of time to nap, shower, put on clean clothes, and were all refreshed for dinner after a long day at the parks. No kiddie meltdowns, and the character interaction was really nicer in the later evenings.

Seriously, I book really far in advance for most trips-180 days if possible. That said, a few days ago, we decided on a whim to go during Spring Break (weekend of 3/28-30, as part of a longer Florida trip) and to my great surprise, I got every restaurant and time I requested! We didn't take it, but there was even Chef Mickey's for 4:45 dinner (or something in that range). She offered CP for dinner but we were just there so I didn't take it. She even had a CRT cancellation for dinner around 6 pm!

IMO, it's all about timing. I called on a Sunday afternoon and got through within 5 minutes on hold. I have been shut out for more popular dinner times that are part of packages like Candlelight Processional, or of course, CRT breakfast. But that's a different universe of ADRs. Just keep trying. You never know. People cancel all the time.

PS, no flames please, but we were a little underwhelmed with Chef Mickeys 3 months ago, so you might not be missing out that much if you don't get in. Seemed to me that of all the character meals, we got the least amount of table time with them at this dinner. I also did not feel that the CMs were good about directing the characters to certain tables--I think Donald missed one table altogether and the family had to get the CM to wave him over after they had finished dinner and vacated the table. The restaurant's confusing configuration does not lend itself to a smooth operation. I swear, most of my photos were a blur because they were gone in a flash if you didn't snap the photos asap. Crystal Palace does a much better job and has better food.

my DH called for LeCellier twice a day everyday until we got lucky the one day and actually got a lunch reservation. We already know when we can book for our next vacation and have it all mapped out with what we want as a first choice and our backups set!

Definitely keep trying.

We made a reservation for our last trip and got the only available time left. It sucked, which is why it was probably left. I kept trying and trying to change it but no luck. When I got to the resort I asked them to check and still no other times. Everytime I passed through the lobby I stopped and checked for the heck of it... sure enough, the night before a new time opened up and we were able to book it. :)

Keep on trying!

I made my ADRs for last year's trip at 180 days, but then needed to change a couple of them at two months out. So I called every day for more than a month, and finally got them all changed to what we needed!

So keep on; it can't hurt!

Thanks everyone :thumbsup2 --I think I'll call right now to check...again. It's not even like I HAVE to go there for dinner. I was just trying to get character dinings for the kids. (aren't I a great mom ;) )---thanks again for the replies

WooHoo!!!!! I got my ADR for Chef Mickey's!!---thanks for the advice everyone!!!!!!:)
