How long did it take you to find the PERFECT contract?

So, I am constantly (obsessively!) checking the resale sites looking for the perfect contract for our add-on. I have a feeling it may be a while. I am curious to know, exactly how long did it take you to find your "perfect contract"? Did anyone just give up and buy direct or settle for something that was not exactly what they wanted?

It is making me crazy - so hard to wait!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Most of our add ons are in the 25-40 point range, and most were bought direct, especially all of the BCV ones.

Our last resale was 100 SSR with 100 banked points. We thought it couldn't get any more perfect than that! We've booked a treehouse, for a 1 night pre-cruise stay and have used the other points at other resorts at 7 months out. However, if we like the treehouse as much as we think we will, those points will be used primarily for those villas!

Best wishes for you to find your "perfect" add on!

We spent over 6 months actively looking for 60 points with June use year at SSR or AKV, but no go. We finally just added on with Disney (as with our other 3 add-ons) and had our points in our account within 3 hours!! We also got pro-rate dues and last year's points too, plus no closing costs, as per usual with members.

Good luck, Tiger :)

Only once, did I bid on a different UY. The offer wasn't accepted, and I thought "whew, I dodged a bullet!" I didn't settle. At that point we were looking for 50 VWL, and we found one, March UY. This was about 5 years ago.

Exactly what you had in mind when you first started looking (i.e. the right number of points with the right use year). Or are you asking a rhetorical question? ;)

I was really just being curious. For us our original purchase was 160 points at VGC with August UY. The use year was an accident, but actually couldn't be better. Our banking deadline is March 31, which is fine since we don't tend to go to Disney during the summer months and by March I know what I'm doing for the rest of the year.

We're considering an add-on (VGC, 50 points, August UY) but won't be able to do anything until September due to finances. Given that VGC may be sold out this summer it may complicate things. (And to answer the question before it's asked, the September time frame for purchasing can not be moved up.)

Thanks! We've been looking for 3 months, so another 3 month wait wouldn't be unusual then. During those 6 months, were there any "almosts"? We've been outbid once already and walked away from another because of too many changes, uncomfortable (long story).

Not an add on but our first contract (and only one so far) took about 2-3 months. It's really a few years for me...but 2-3 months from when I got DH to agree. I wanted a minimum of 150 points and preferred a June UY. Resort wasn't as big an issue for me..I am happy just owning and if I can only book at my home resort I won't care.

So I found a resale in January with June UY..150 points and it had 150 points banked. It is at SSR.

There were a few 'almosts', but they had wrong UY, but right amount of points, or correct UY and too many or too few points. We could never find the exact one...I'm a teacher, so June UY is crucial, and we struggled to find contracts under these parameters.

In hindsight, we could have waited and made due with our existing points, but because CDN was at-par, we decided to just go with Disney.

I'm not really sure if we'll add-on again as we have 360 points, and this is enough for us. But, I wouldn't hesitate to work with TSS, as they were great with emails, newsletters, answering questions, etc.

Best of luck, Tiger :)

I found a resale within a week but I wasn't looking for "perfect". It was 5 points less than my ideal contract point total and had a different UY than my original contract bought from Disney. What made it "perfect", however, was that it was $62 a point and cleared ROFR! :)

Since both my contracts are close to the same point totals (VWL & BWV), having two UY's has never been an issue. I guess if I really needed "perfect", I'd work with Disney direct but I'm not sure that perfection is always critical.

We read dozens and dozens of Contracts and found a loaded 1 made an offer they countered we countered and they accepted. We were not sure on Dec UY, but it has worked out EXTREMELY well for us:cool1:. I hope to add on at BWV but seems like something always comes up:mad: Shawnpirate:

What is your "perfect contract?" If you provide with info on what you are looking for I can try and give you an idea of how long you might have to wait.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks to everyone who replied... I know purchasing resale requires a lot of patience and diligence. I am glad to know we have our initial AKV purchase in our "back pocket" for now! I will wait 6 months if I have to for the right amount of points with the right use year! :wizard:
