It has been about 6 weeks, and I have been staying at around 20 the whole time. Is there a limit to how long you can stay on induction?

My husband and I never really went off the induction phase. Although since he is now at a huge loss he occasionally eats pasta or breaded items when out to dinner. Also, he has added daily fruits to his diet. At my insistance. I don't like him constantly eating high fat items for his lunch and breakfast. If you arent hungry at 20 carbs, then I say stay there. But if you get bored with the food choices try adding a new one from the second stage list for variety.

I have been on and off the rolller coaster of low carb eating....currently back on and down 4.5 in two weeks. Wish it were more but it is a start.....YEAH......hubby is down 60 pounds......and looks fab.....

Good luck and congrats on the 25 pounds so far

I was thinking on staying on induction for about 6 weeks. I'm on day 6 now. How did you do on six weeks of induction.

I am doing fine. Since I don't have food cravings, I don't really care what I eat, so I am fine.

I start craving again though if I eat ANYTHING Sweet.....even Atkins bars!

I stayed on Induction for about six months, and would have done it for longer but I had an unrelated health problem, then a bunch of travel afterward. I lost about 60 pounds during that time.

Then I lost about 20 more, then I added more carbs for a few months, but stopped losing. A couple of weeks ago I went back on Induction, and now I have lost three pounds (I haven't been as strict as I was the first six months I did it, but I am not trying to lose as fast as I did then). I still have 30 - 50 pounds to lose (haven't decided on a final goal yet - my intermediate goal is 15 more pounds for nice ROUND number of 100 pounds lost!)

You are doing great - keep up the good work!

Congratulations on your great weight loss!

Many people stay on Induction for months, but they have a lot of weight to lose. I think you'll want to think about moving onto Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) soon as you only have 20 pounds to go. OWL and pre-maintenance are really important to keeping the weight off. They allow you to add non-induction foods into your diet (I just added berries this week!) and raise the number of carbs eaten until you plateau at your goal weight. If you don't slow your weight loss down gradually you may slip back into your bad eating patterns once you reach goal.

Personally I don't think it is that safe to stay on strict induction (20 carbs or less) very long unless you are working very hard to get vital nutrients and fiber. The main idea of induction is to detox your body. Once you start feeling energized your body is pretty much over the detox part. Then you can carbs in 5 grams at a time each week until you are comfortable with the speed of your weight loss. Also I find it easier to just "give up" and over indulge if/when you cheat if you stay on induction too long.
