How long before your trip do the travel documents come?

Once your package has been paid in full the documents will be shipped. They estimate that they are shipped about 21 days prior to your arrival date however, I have frequently received the package within 7-10 days of payment. Final payment is of course due 45 days from arrival date so that gives you the timeline.

If your ressie is room only then there will not be a document package, just a confirmation letter.

it actually has nothing to do with when your package is paid off. to tell you precisely why, imagine paying your package in its entirety when booking, then receiving all the vouchers and whatnot, then being able to cancel the trip getting all your money back and keeping the vouchers.

the timeline is this:

DME documents are currently sent out about 6 weeks prior to check-in
package documents are sent out about 5 weeks prior to check-in

of course if you booked through any TA and not through Disney directly, it all goes to them on your behalf

I paid our balance in full on July 5 (it was due July 7). I received our travel docs with luggage tags on July 16. We are checking into POP on Aug. 21. Hope this helps.

Well I had just typed up a detailed reply to the post and then somehow lost it, I apologize if it ends up with a double post. In a nutshell....

The docs are not shipped until after the package is paid in full. The docs are tied to your confirmation number so if you were to cancel then the "vouchers" would be canceled in the reservation system. No one can cancel a package and then still use the vouchers for a free stay. You do incur a fee if you cancel within 45 days of your arrival date and you would incur a change fee and a new doc fee if you made package changes in that 45 day window. Disney would then ship you a whole new package with more luggage tags and coupons. If you make a ressie about 10 days prior to arrival date then you receive the docs via UPS, if you make a ressie about 5 days prior to arrival date then they are held at the front desk for your check-in. You dont have to have the docs to check in, just give your confirmation number.

If using a TA, they would receive the docs after posting final payment for the client and receive them on the same schedule as a direct booking guest woud receive them. The TA then delivers/mails/expresses the docs to the guest.

The luggage tags (in the 2007 packages) come in handy, we have about 50 of them!! Have a great trip!

I had my trip paid off some time in the beginning of June and my documents came on Friday July 20. My check in date is August 4th.

JPage: your TA should receive the packet about 3-4 weeks (inside the 45 day window) prior to your arrival date if you paid in advance. Some folks pay on the Disney schedule and some folks like to get the payment taken care of months in advance! Hopefully, your TA will get the packet to you as quickly as possible after he/she receives it. I am the type who likes to have all my "loose ends" wrapped up way in advance so I get anxious until I have that packet in my hands!

it's the same schedule, 6 weeks prior to check-in, your DME is sent, 5 weeks prior to check-in, your package materials are sent. both will be sent to your TA. AAA is known for keeping everything until about 2-3 weeks prior to check-in

again, it has nothing to do with when you pay off the vacation.

I e-mailed my TA yesterday and she said she'd gotten my vouchers but not my DME documentation. It should arrive shortly. I'm checking in August 22nd.

I have room only booked for Aug 25th and then my package booked from Aug 26 to Sep 03. I received my ME package with ME vouchers for the return trip and luggage tags. Should I still be receiving a ME package for my arrival on Aug 25th? I still have not received any packages with travel vouchers. I saw on a previous post that I would receive a confirmation letter for my one night. Will this document be separate from my package documents?

well. . .received my Magical Express package yesterday (7/27) for our trip
(9/3). 39 days out from trip. however, there was an error and I needed tocall ME direct to get it corrected. The gentleman I spoke with seemed suprised I had them in hand already!? So I guess in another week or so I will get my check in package (vouchers, etc.) according to bradk's post, that would be right on schedule just about.
