I am ten months out, and I checked the websites and $260.00 seems a bit steep to me.(Burlington,VT to Orlando with a stop over in Philly)
How long should I wait before I book?
What did you all do and what kind of prices did you get?

for last dec 1-6th I purchased my tkts oct 15th the day they went on sale for 151. for last feb 9th -13th I purchased my tkt jan 26th. for this aug I purchased my tkt jun 6th at 168.50 per person. for my sep trip coming up I bought my tkts online may 9th for 168.50 per person and they went down jun 27th to 136 and I got the voucher.

I booked my friends tkt for her trip this friday the 13th on jun 6th. the fare was 168.50.

my suggestion is when the fare goes below 200 buy. I personally think you still have time to buy a tkt. they ahven't even begun to put any sale fares out for your time frame yet. (next may correct?) thats 10 mths out.

I normally make resv's 4-6 months prior. I am on the airline's web site weekly to see if the price has gone up or down. For instance for our trip to DL, I saw on the airline web site it said $105 per person from Tuscon to LAX and then later it went up to $118. 4 1/2 months prior I saw the rate had gone down to $85.50 per person so at the time I purchased those tickets. Since I purchased those tickets the price from Tucson AZ to LAX went up to $135. Boy am I glad I purchased those tickets when I saw that great rate. Right now I am constently on the airlines web site for our WDW trip in January and I am constently checking on those prices ($687 pp) and hoping for them to go down between now and September before I book them.

My suggestion for you is to get e-mails from these airline web sites to let them notify you of specials. Keep looking on the airline web sites to see how the price is. If you see a price you like grab it.

Good luck.

year we are going in April.....and I was looking at the US air website......for the heck of it and HOLY MOLY.....most all of the flights out of Portland Maine were sold out.......I panicked and called our TRAVEL AGENT the next day......yup....they were sold and finally we are leaving instead of a saturday saturday trip.......we are going Tuesday to Tuesday and the cost is down to 287.00.......I would start looking into it....depending on when you are going.......hope it works out for you

I am obsessive about watching fares, and purchase as soon as the price from BWI to MCO goes under $150.00. If I am less than 2 months out, I'll usually purchase immediately.

I bought my tickets a week or two ago for my September trip. Woohoo, can't back out now!!!

I agree, keep checking, and as soon as the fare is something you know is a good price, book it. If it does drop later, get a voucher.

That being said, I booked my last flight to MCO 3 weeks before departure. I had planned to drive for almost a year, then suddenly there was a huge price drop! I saved $80 by flying on a Wednesday instead of Thursday...I was lucky that OKW could add a day to my ressie through DVC, otherwise, my first night would have been off-site. (Saving $80 is worth 1 night off-site to me.)

Just keep checking.

Hi -

Well, for my last two trips to DW, I've booked my airfare about 3 months in advance. I usually don't like to wait longer than that, since I usually go during the summer months. I'm also planning on going next summer, and I probably won't even start looking at airfare until Jan of next year. The planes won't sell out before then, and there won't be any sales for my time period, so I'll just wait. If something good comes along I'll book it, but since I travel to FL often (MIL in Miami) I have a good idea of what a good fare would be.

I booked my air way before my room. I figured i could always get a room someplace and i like to make sure i get a direct flight and leave early. Michelle

Feb 9 until Feb 16 2002. I bought our tickets on May 31, we are flying from MKE to MCO, (there are 4 of us), and paid 198.00 per person. I was waiting until fares dropped to 200.00 or less, then I booked.

I'm flying from New York to West Palm Beach on November 21st, driving up to WDW, and then flying home from Orlando. I bought the ticket for November 21st about a month ago, because I knew JetBlue would have the cheapest fare for that leg of the trip, and I wanted to get their lowest fare. I was the first one to buy a ticket for that flight (JetBlue told me what day that fare would be on sale, and even told me when to call). But ...

I usually don't buy plane tickets until 3 or 4 months before I go.

I just booked today for December 2001 trip. $93.02 per person from DFW to MCO. I figured I could not get much better and I would be very upset if they never go down that low again before our trip! But, I am glad I did not get in to big of a rush and bought sonner at $270 per person.
