How long are you allowed to park at a resort for ADR?

So I was considering reserving Trattoria al Forno on Boardwalk for breakfast one morning before rope dropping Remy from the international gateway. I know I'd have to show the ADR to park there, but would there be any repercussion to being parked for 3-4 hours? We weren't planning on staying at Epcot all day or anything, but I wasn't sure how to know if doing this would be okay.

I believe you can pay for valet parking at the resort and leave your car with no issues. However, as that resort is one of the ones that has park access in walking distance, you are running a risk of having your car towed if you leave it there after your meal. 3 hours is the usual given time allowed.

Understandable! That's why I wanted to ask. 🙂

Pay to valet park and it's good all day, even if you go to another resort for dinner in the evening. Just show your receipt from the morning..

Parking at the Boardwalk is extremely limited and you might find yourself circling the parking lot repeatedly while looking for an open space in the morning. The valets have their own lot and it is so much easier to just pull up and hand over the keys.

You can park for 3 hours after your reservation time and one hour before your reservation. They will not tow your car if you stay a few extra hours unless they specifically tell you at the hotel gate to park in a specific location/space.

Parking there is such a pain, if you are staying on property I'd take Disney transportation to DHS then do the easy quick walk to Boardwalk.

If you need your car right after EPCOT and staying on property, drive to DHS, park for free and walk to Boardwalk. After EPCOT you could take Skyliner back to your car.

When we went to Jiko, and parked at AKL, no one marked our car as to when or where we were. And we got there an hour before our reservation so we could look in the gift shop, and spent a little time looking at the animals afterwards. Definitely more than 3 hours.

AKL doesn’t have the parking space issue that monorail and Epcot area resorts have.

Your car will not be towed.
Has anyone ever heard or seen a post here where some got their car towed? I have been here forever and have never seen one.

The only time we ever parked all day was when we did California Grill brunch that included free valet parking. We confirmed is with the valet that we could park all day.

no one marked our car
Security has cameras all over. They no doubt "marked" your car by recording your license plate and maybe even your parking spot. Disney keeps security tight, but in the background.

I've seen plenty of posts about cars being towed from the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower lots. I'm not sure if we've ever seen confirmation about why those cars were being towed.

,Not surprised about those lots.

Depending on where you’re traveling from-if you’re staying at a resort close by I would consider taking a lyft or, if on property, a minnievan and not dealing with the hassle at all.

At any Disney hotel within walking distance of a park, they don't want people parking for free for the whole day and taking up a spot for someone who is actually staying there. During peak times/days, hotel parking lots can fill up leaving little extra space for others to park there. Having an ADR doesn't allow you to park there all day to go to a park. Some people try to park for free to avoid paying to park at one of the theme parks and Disney is wise to that. IF your car happens to get towed then the fact someone on a forum site says that is unlikely to happen won't be of much consolation.

Valet parking is MORE expensive then the cost of theme park regular parking, so no one does that to 'game' the system.

They won’t tow. They have no way of knowing what spot you’re in and security is not watching every car that enters to see what spot they park in. It’s an honor system

Maybe, maybe not. Security does ask to see an ID when stopping at the guard shack if you don’t use a MB or key card to enter.. Sometimes, depending on where and the time of day, they do record your name from the ID and as you drive away, they record your plate number. There are also cameras that capture plate numbers. We’ve often been asked why we are visiting another resort if we drive. If it’s a monorail resort or one that is walking distance to the parks, they will check to see if you actually have a dinner reservation. We got turned away from the Polynesian once because it was more than 30 minutes before our O’hana reservation (it was 50 minutes prior). I don’t think they tow on a regular basis, but it’s not an impossibility.

I would not chance it and just take a taxi. We have early breakfasts at other resorts a few times during a trip and usually it is $12-$15 at the most depending on how far across property you are plus tip.

A CM can somehow help you find your vehicle in a park lot. I don't know what info they have, but everything I've seen and read indicates they're danged good at it. If disney wants to babysit parking lots at the resorts, I'm sure there are plenty of cameras or whatever else.

Part of it is courtesy. If you're having to drive around and around to find a spot, as a PP mentioned, imagine how someone staying there feels. If folks staying at the resort can't park, disney will have to take action. Set aside a small lot just for dining that fills up quickly? Charge you to pay to park just to eat there? Allow paid valet parking only? Start giving priority ADR s to those staying at the resort itself to lower people needing to park just for a meal? Yeah. I'm making stuff up, but I do believe they have the right to tow.
