How Long After the LOA?

I read somewhere that doing an Escape wedding requires little planning from DFTW, so I shouldn't expect to hear from my planner very often. Still, I heard from Disney over a week ago saying they got my deposit and LOA and my planner would contact me soon. How long does it usually take to hear back? Am I supposed to call them?

We also just signed our Escape contract (for 3/8/10!!). One week later, I got a message from my wedding planner (Tanis), saying she has been assigned to us, but would be out of the office on vacation until today! Maybe she's your planner, too!

Maybe some other girls could give you their experiences. Hope you hear from them soon! Here's some pixie dust for you pixiedust:

We faxed our contract on August 6th, I received a phone call confirming receipt early on the 7th and heard from Karen yesterday.

I'm so excited to be less than 3 months out!!! :goodvibes

It took me a few weeks to hear from my planner the first time. But since I got her, she is really easy to get a hold of! I can email her and she gets back to me either by email or by phone as soon as she is back in the office. I dont feel like I get less attention just from being an Escape bride.

They said my planner is John. Is it weird that I've only spoken to males at DFTW? I haven't felt like it's a bad thing, but it's definitely strange that I haven't heard anything from the planner or the coordinator about my room block.

How does a room block work? I emailed my coordinator with a list of dates and the number of rooms in the resort we want. What happens next?

Thanks for your help, everyone! I would be so lost without these boards.:thumbsup2

The room block is not required for Escape weddings. :thumbsup2

If you really really want one, Disney can set one up, but you will only get a 10% discount on the rooms and you will be required to fill at least 10 rooms (not room nights).

AMy is our DFTW planner and she is absolutely AWESOME!! We heard from her about a week after sending in the LOA. She has been available whenever I have had any questions - by the way, so has Rosie from floral!

We were only going to set one up so we could get a discount for my side of the family at least, who has never stayed on Disney property and isn't sure what to do. At no point did my WC say there had to be at least 10 rooms, so I'm wondering about that now. That could be why he hasn't gotten back to me yet.

What do you suggest I do? Should I just tell our families to book the rooms on their own?

Definitely! There are so many amazing deals on Disney rooms right now that are WAY better than 10% off, including free dining. They could go through a travel agent or AAA if they are not travel savvy, or they can book directly with Disney using the web site or calling the WDW Travel Company.
