How late is too late to go to the beach?

We are having some houseguest over soon, and they are interested in going to the beach, I was thinking clearwater or something. It's 6 pm too late to go? Would a 60 year old and a 14 year old both be entertained?

I say as long as the sun is up then your fine. If their is any activites at the beach like our beach has then yes they will be entertained

I'd go at 6 no problem. It would be nice and relaxing!!! our wedding pix below was taken about 6 and sunset was about 7:30...it was beautiful!

DH and I used to go to Clearwater Beach late in the evening. To me, it's the prettiest time to be on the beach.

There is a hotel (blast it all I suddenly can't remember the name!) and it has a Tiki lounge down close to the water. Beautiful out there!!! They serve snacks and yummy drinks out there or you can head inside for dinner.

Will return with the name of hotel when (if) it comes to me.

I've never been fishing before, sounds like fun. Although, I developed a seafood allergy last summer, I wonder if I would get sick if I were to fish and actually touch the fish. Anyone know?

The only time we go to the beach is after 6PM! I don't like to bring my baby out in the direct sunlight. Also, that's a beautiful time of day to go to the beach...it's cooled off some, and it's not crowded.

I was at the beach last night at 5:30 PM after work! And I'm in CT not on the nice Florida beaches! I like going at night because there aren't as many people but the sand and water are the same. Plus the sun isn't as hot. Have fun!

I developed a seafood allergy last summer, I wonder if I would get sick if I were to fish and actually touch the fish. Anyone know?

My DSil developed an allergy to fish after the birth of her third child. Now she can't eat, let alone touch seafood of any kind. Makes it real difficult when our family gets together, because we love seafood.

Just remember though, the sharks really come out at night! We used to swim at Indian Rocks Beach, down from Clearwater during the day, then watch them fish for sharks off the pier that night.

on the weekends around here, you'd better be there by 10:00 if you want good parking. we're usually there early morning or mid-afternoon if we want to watch the sunset. Pier 60 at Clearwater has a nightly sunset event.

we like Ft. DeSoto and the Sarasota beaches rather than fighting the Clearwater/St. Pete crowds. if you want to 'wow' your houseguests, Siesta Key is about 45 minutes south on I-75.

And stingrays are prevalant around dusk.

Are you planning to swim, look for shells, shop, eat at a beachside restaurant? If planning to swim, just be careful and shuffle your feet in the water (the stingray thing). Anything else is great at that time of the day, as it is not as hot out, and you can stick around to watch the sunset.

I love going to St. Pete Beach at about 7pm and wading into the water and just enjoying the sunset. We usually do that in the fall and spring, but now's a good time, too!
