OK so its started. I briefly looked at MDE to try and follow along although I'm a month away from visiting WDW.

For those of you that are there and trying to use Genie+, how has your experience been?

Full disclosure: we loved FP+ and not feeling like we had to get up and rope drop so G+ is different for us.

We arrived last Saturday and leave this upcoming Monday. It’s better than standby and better than legacy FP. We have a standard set of rides we do in each park (ranging from 1 ride in AK to 5 at Mk) and don’t generally hit headliners except in Batuu.

We have enjoyed G+ because it lets us be efficient with the parks: we do the rides we want, have snacks, shop etc.

My biggest wish is to be able to prebook the 1st G+ of day and out ILL$ so we can sleep in.

It was not easy to use or figure out compared to FP+ . We used it at MK, AK and HS. It works much better at parks with more attractions. I see no reason to use it at EPCOT. We used it at AK just to play with it. It got us into Safari, Navi, Dinosaur, Lion King . It did save us time with Safari (maybe the most time saved) Navi, Dinosaur and a better seat at FoLK.

So what did you do for Ratatouille?

We did it 3 different days and did the BG each morning at 7am. I screwed up the first morning and we got 80. The other days were 11 and then my phone acted up and we got 50.
Just checking….in order to get a BG you have to have a park reservation for Epcot, correct?

So could I get into the que while still at Boardwalk at 7am or do you need to be close to the ride to join?

Long as you have a park res, its from anywhere, park doesnt even open until like 10am right now haha

Is there still a standby lane for Rat? I'm not looking forward to this new system. One of my main concerns is that I have an older iphone, I think it's a 5 so it's not as fast as others. Is that going to put me at a disadvantage in getting a boarding time or am I just not understanding how this whole thing works. :confused3 TIA for any and all information you can share.

What's a BG?

Thanks for asking this question, I was wondering the same thing. LOL :rotfl2:

The virtual queue uses the standby line, so no standby at this time.

For Android, clearing the apps running, and optimizing storage and memory helps. I suspect the iPhone has something similar.
Before open the app and verify your party, hit the refresh button and join right at 7. Unlike RoTR which filled under about 2 seconds, Remy doesn't fill as quickly, so you still have a few seconds. Also, the 1 pm still seems to be available for at least 20 minutes or longer.

That really stinks! So if you want to ride your are being forced to pay extra? What good is park admission if it doesn't include the rides? :confused3

Are you saying that the 1pm for RotR doesn't fill up in a minute or so? I know last year I tried to get a boarding time for that ride but I was always shot out and I had several days at HS but still wasn't able to get on this ride.

I would be willing to pay one time for Rat and RotR to try it at least once but after that I don't think so. Also I want to thank both of you for responding to me.

I just got back from a long trip. LOVED IT.

We spent $150ish for Genie+ for 3 people two days, Remy 2x and RR x 1. Genie+ is a real VIP line with no wait, not like the shorter FastPass lane. It was incredible to walk onto Millenium Falcon and Jungle Cruise, and all the midlevels in a day or two.

I was skeptical, but this works SO WELL with the hoppers. On days without Genie+, go to MK, ride the less popular rides, hop to Epcot, pay for Remy, get the whole experience.

The after hours for deluxe were practically empty. They just let us sit on Soarin'. Everything at MK was walk on except 7D that we tried.

We were able to book Remy at 2 or 3PM for 7 or 8 PM. ROTR was still showing paid spots at 10 or 11AM.

RoTR doesn't have the VQ anylonger. Its a paid LL or standby only. The paid LL does fill quickly.
Remy is the only VQ at this time and the afternoon release has been available up to 2 or 2:30 on some days.

Thanks for the information, I guess this will be a wait and see for us. My DH is not happy about having to pay extra to get on a ride. We have eight days currently at Epcot so I will try the standby lane first and see how that goes. I will try for the LL at HS for RotR, probable this ride will be a one and done for us.
