How is World Showcase these day?

Haven't been to WDW since late 2012. My favorite place use to be World Showcase and I miss being there. The architecture, the food, the music, Illuminations. But last time we were there, they had Off Kilter and the World Showcase Players, my favorite live shows on property. Now they're both gone, replaced by some yawns. With that fact, the Great FP+ Uber-Plan Debate, and high airfare, we've done DL the last three years which was a lot of fun. But it's about to undergo massive refurbs so we're thinking of a return to Orlando later this year or early next.

Just wondering what everyone thought of WS these days. It would be the main reason I would return.

I spent may an afternoon stumbling back and forth between Off Kilter and the British Invasion, with stops at the R&C brew stand of course. That I miss but there's a new act coming to the Canada stage that may bring back the good ole' days. The World Showcase Players were a favorite of ours, now gone, they liked to pick on me for some reason. I was King Arthur twice, Romeo once and a player in Cyranose near the end of their days. WS is still our favorite afternoon and evening place to be but it's lost some of its allure.

World Showcase is great for some things: food, beautiful atmosphere, IllumiNations, shopping. But it's certainly not the place to go for rides (nor, really, is Future World IMO) and there aren't a lot of entertainment options. The ones that are there are all quite good--I love the acts in China and Italy especially--but if you aren't interested in meeting characters your options are pretty severely limited.

Actually, my favorite thing to do is have breakfast in the France pavilion. It's completely quiet, no one else is around because WS isn't technically open, the food is delicious, and we have the whole place to ourselves just to enjoy the atmosphere.

We still like it. There does seem to be less entertainment but it's still fun to go around and see what you can, as well as the usual attractions (except for Maelstrom unfortunately)

There's a newish band in Morocco that we have enjoyed on our recent trips. Last Saturday we lucked in in that we walked up and saw entertaining in France, by the time we walked to Italy the flag guys were arriving. We listened to the new band in morocco on the way

When will they have a new act for Canada?

Same here! I was picked for King Arthur once and Galahad twice. There must be something about my face that seemed great for British comedy. Even when I wasn't picked, I was sitting up front, crying from laughter. That act totally fit the cultural stereotype of what the UK is. And isn't that what World Showcase is about? Giving us the most generalized version of the concept of the country. Now all they have is a street band in the UK...which seems more Nashville or Vegas than UK.

I just returned and we still love the World Showcase for the food and the drinks. Unfortunately the entertainment isn't what it once was. Thankfully the loggers in Canada seem to have been removed as it was a painful show to watch. I think as always there will be things you will still enjoy and be pleased to see and then there will be the few disappointments with changes that have been or are being made. Overall we still enjoy it.

Two of your favorite entertainment acts are not there any longer but everything else still is. Canada is getting a new act instead of the lumberjacks (never saw them so not commenting) so you can check them out (please don't compare with Off Kilter since they were a favorite - see them for themselves, not what you used to like in Off Kilter). But everything else is the same. You still get the architecture, the food, the music, Illuminations. To base an entire trip on two entertainment acts is not a good way to start planning for the future.

I miss the World Showcase Players, but I love everything else, especially British Revolution and The Voices of Liberty.

I prefer going to WS during their festivals: Food & Wine, and Flower & Garden. We've done several F&W trips. Last year, we did a F&G trip, and have another trip booked for April. Going to WS during the Christmas holiday is also fun with the Candlelight Processional, holiday storytellers, decorations, and treats.

WS has always been our favorite of all the WDW parks/places. Until the last two solo trips, we have rarely even stopped to watch/listen to the entertainment and we have been going since it opened. Now we do take the time to stop and take it all in, there is plenty to see, do and eat there.

We were in the WS last year and thought it was fantastic as ever. It still has the same feel, even though the acts have changed. The band that plays in the UK pavilion gazebo area is awesome. My daughter was dancing like crazy and they came over to take pictures with her and let her try their instruments when their set was done.
