How is Walt Disney Studios Paris doing?

I really haven't herd much news on this park for a while. Does anyone know how it's doing over there? It looked very small from the previews, and definatly not a whole day park. Is it doing better than DCA?

From what I've read hotel bookings were good, but park attendance below their expectations, so they introduced (or will introduce) a 1-day park hopper ticket for 56 euros.

Since the normal park entrance fee is 38 Euros, for an additional 14 Euros you get the second park. A euro is currently about equal to a dollar. This is, oddly enough, about the price that Al Putz (sorry, Lutz) had decided that DCA is worth on his website Louse (sorry, Mouse) Planet.
They are already building more attractions at the Walt Disney Studio in Paris, and rejiggering one of the attractions that just opened.
It DOES look like about half a day's worth, and like all of the parks Disney has opened in the last 15 years, it will take them years to eventually build enough attractions to make it into a full-day experience.

The “rumor” about Disney Studio Paris is that attendance is pretty dreadful. They knew they were going to have problems from the beginning and they offered a modified park hopper from opening day (the day at Studios and then admittance to Disneyland Paris for the last four hours). That hasn’t been enough and so they’ve gone to the DCA style park hopper. The ‘Aladdin’ spinner was literally a last minute addition to the park. The ride was sitting in boxes in Anaheim and was supposed to be the ‘Ursula’ spinner at California Adventure. But it was decided that DSP need more help than DCA (isn’t that terrifying) and it was shipped overseas.

The other additions that are going in are leftovers from the closed DisneyQuest Chicago. The Cyber Space Mountain drums are being installed in place of the TV Tour (which is so unpopular it is being entirely redone) and the drawing desks are being added to the Animation Tour. Also look for a decorated kiddie carnival along the lines of Flik’s to appear in the near future.

The upside is that Disney only owns 34% of this disaster.

this park doesn't even COMPARE to california adventure. this is the ugliest, most boring, most soul-sucking disney theme park ever. i was going to say imaginable, but i never would have imagined a disney park could be SO bad.

we went in may. it was crowded, mostly with people milling around looking for something to do.

the theme is: hey, kids it's a movie backlot! which is an excuse for the park not to theme or decorate anything. who wastes money decorating a backlot?

example: the rock'n'roller coaster is themed as a roller coaster prototype. so there is no theme. just blah. it's all that much uglier compared to disneyland paris, which is the most beautiful park we've visited.

i can't convey how ugly it is. say what you will about DCA, it's really lovely.

awwww.......I went in July of this year...oh the memories.....

I liked the Studios....I would rather have been over in DLP, but there were a couple things I would like to comment on:

Yes, the RnR could use some theming, but I liked it a lot better than the MGM one.......

Animagique and Cinemagique were interesting.....might be cool to have one of them in MGM or such, but they seemed like an attraction that was meant to wow a lot of people, and its basically just a theater......

Aladdin just confused me.....

Moteurs in Action......SOOOOO AWESOME......cars flying everywhere and stunt drivers.....MUCH better than the Indiana Jones in MGM......

We skipped the backlot cuz well, it bores me in Florida.....

I saw them expanding, and they already had the animation academy at the animation "tour".....I liked the Mushu thingy though......

The parade.....Its COOOOL.....Tinkerbell is in it!!! My CM friend said that Tink is NEVER anywhere in the parks....that was cool.....

well, that's all my comments on the Studios.....:)

:bounce:

The stunt show is amazing. I was also impressed with the way the shows moved along in three different languages, English, German and French.

There wasn't a parade (yet) when we were there.

I can't believe you liked the Aerosmith coaster in Paris better! But I admit, I am a sucker for theming and detail -- which made Disneyland Paris pure heaven. For me, it's not enough for the ride to be good if the theming suffers.

The animation building was good, but not as good as the one in California Adventure. And you didn't miss anything on the Backlot Tour.

Our trip was colored by the fact that every laundry room in every DLP resort was "closed for maintenance." (Finding them was a chore, too. Apparently, no one ever asks for laundry facilities.) We were backpacking and counting on Disneyland Paris as a good place to do laundry. I ended up wearing my pajamas for two days in Paris.

My family went to DLP/DS in late June (without me) and had a one day pass to DS, and were able to get into DLP after 4pm, I believe. They really liked it. Part of the day was cut short b/c they tookd the train from Paris, but the photos/video was nice, and they said they had a good time. As a side note, my 14 yo. sister doesn't ride rollercoasters, so they skipped that.

Personally, I liked DCA when I visited there in May. Parts of it reminded me of the boardwalk down the shore (only nicer). People slam that park, and seem to forget that DLP (EuroDisney) took about 5 years to end up in the black.

So are you suggesting that DCA is worth the $45 ticket?
