Let me start off by stating this is not a US is terrible WDW does it better post. I am very excited to be going to WWOHP in August but I'm getting very worried about FJ and whether we will be able to ride. Are they responding to the complaints about the cars not fitting people?? Are they going to try and have larger seats in the back row? My DH is very tall 6'7 so I doubt he will be able to ride. MY boys are really excited about this ride so any news about Universals response and their plans would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are no rows on FJ. Each kuka arm has a pod with 4 seats. Rumour is that there are plans to have a different type of pod that can hold larger customers. I heard that this was in the works even before the ride opened.

I think it would depend on where his height is. If his legs are long he should be fine. If it is his torso , then that may be the issue...the ride won't close over his shoulders.
Also I can see how long legged people could touch the scenery with their legs, it really is close. If he gets on let him know to keep his legs together..and not outstretched.

There also doesn't seem to be a set body type that can or can not ride. People I thought would never make did and those I thought were fine didn't.

You can be large chested and ride...as long as you are " perky" .

The TM's warn you before you enter the line that " the seats are not like anything else you have ever rode on before" and " unusual body types" will not be able to ride. Of course no one stopped to try the test seat, so there were some POed people when they got to the actual ride.

I've also heard that some who tried the test seats literally rammed themselves into the things which didn't work when they actually tried to ride. A person has to fit comfortably into the seat.

I don't think that Disney could do any better with this type of technology. It is what it is. However they might be more informative (hard call) and they might not use this technology due to issues such as fit. However, that's all conjecture.

Any comparisons on seat size from someone bigger who's tried to ride both Sum of all Thrills at Epcot and FJ? Aren't they from the same manufacturer?

Is Sum of all Thrills a new ride or is the writer mistaken, i've not been to epcot for 2 years, but have not heard of that one??

I've been to Epcot last year and I never hear of it. It uses the Kuka arm technology which FJ uses. They seem to be altogether a different experience. The seats from FJ look more like Soarin'.

It's in Innoventions. I think it was added last fall---it was there when we went in Oct of 2009.

Thanks for the help. I'm hoping by the time we go in Aug things will be worked out.

Yes, it opened fall of 2009. I was there this past Memorial Day. Didn't do the ride but people walking through Innoventions can just stand there and watch. Watching the kuka arm in operation was interesting to see. There is more than 1 arm, don't remember exactly but I'm thinking there were 5, and each has 2 seats. You walk up a flight of stairs to an upper deck, sit in the seat and a screen/harness closes down in front of you immersing you in a virtual world, the floor is retracted and the ride begins. I read some where you get to program some of the features of the ride you want, maybe someone can confirm this.

I can confirm what you've said about the Sum of All Thrills ride programming. You can program the features of your ride. For example, you could pick a jet fighter program and add features like loops and rolls. Speed is also variable. Your program is stored on a card, which the ride operator swipes when you board the ride. If you've done Cyber Space Mountain at DisneyQuest, you've done something very similar even though the technology is probably different. My kids and I thought it was fun. I'm not sure I'd wait longer than 30 minutes for the Sum of All Thrills because I thought it was kind of a weenie ride even though it was fun. On the other hand, this was probably my fault for programming a weenie ride.
