We have ressies with Southwest out of PVD, and have not been there before. Wondering if it is better than Logan out of Boston? :teeth:

It is much better than Logan. It is smaller and much more organized.
It is a very nice airport.

PVD is a delight!

You will walk into the terminal (yes THE terminal, there is only one) and walk about 25 steps, and you will be at the SWA counter. (It's on the left). It should take you about 10-20 minutes MAX to check in. Then, security, which our last time through, literally took as long as the three of us needed to walk through. Poof, we were done.

You will leave on time (if not a tad early) barring anything unforseen, and you will wonder why you did not try flying out of PVD sooner!

Have a great trip!

Flown many times out of PVD, love it. Parking is cheaper also. We would much rather do PVD than BOS.

we love pvd!!!! in fact we haven't flown out of boston in at least 3 yrs and we've flown 5 times since then.

you cannot beat the convenience, imo! (although now that jet blue is flying out of logan prices may take me back there)

the only problem we've ever had was security on a saturday morning around 6:30am. packed! we were there so long we missed pre-boarding with our then 9m old. i was annoyed. we won't fly out on saturday mornings again.

Once you fly out of Providence, you will never want to deal with Logan again!!

You can leave your car for a week and it will cost around $55.00.

Let me just put it to you this way: Our flight landed at 10:00AM and we were on 95 North (WITH our 7 pieces of checked luggage in perfect shape - try that at Logan!) before 10:30AM. 'nuff said.

PVD is the BEST!

Here's there website. Take a look around. Play with the cameras in the lobby so you will know where things are. Check out the length of the lines for the day/time similar to when you are flying out. The line moves VERY fast -- if there is even a line.

Also, we like to park at Post Rd Airport Valet. http://www.airportvalet.com/
$49 for the week -- if book on web.

You could always just take a drive down....and check it all out. It's a PIECE OF CAKE!!!!! Nothing like Logan at all.

Road takes you right in! Parking (short term) is right there. Walk in & look around. I did this recently to calm my nerves since not flying since 9/11. I just needed to SEE everything. It's a breeze.

Thank You all, I just made ressies for thier parking system, it looks like they know what they are doing!! I thank you Kindly!!

I have to add my two cents....we have flown out of PVD quite a lot. I'm in central Ma so I was pretty equidistant to both Logan and PVD....55 minutes door to door to PVD and the same to Logan. For our trip in August we used Song(for the first time) out of Logan. The new straight shot down the pike to the airport is terrific. Only took about 40 minutes from our house to satellite parking lot. And this was on a Fri. morning at 8:00 a.m. We used one of the distant lots for parking and it cost about $90. We took a shuttle bus to the terminal. Wasn't bad at all. We have never flown SW before. I can never seem to get my flights booked soon enough to get a good rate. I will say that friends of ours managed to get into PVD during that mid-Dec snow storm that shut down Logan. If I could get a good rate on a non-stop flight, I'd be using PVD too.

If it was not for the great Promo rate i got for the four of us, I don't know if I would have used PVD. But now the parking, Great Rates and less hassle seems real good!! ::Pinkbounc

We always park at Thrify Rental down the road from the airport.

If you have a AAA card or get their local edition of their AAA newspaper there are coupons to get 15% off your parking.

It is so easy. Just pull up to the front door, check in inside while the shuttle driver is loading your bags onto the shuttle bus. The airport is about 3 minutes down the road.

When you return from your flight, call them on the airport phone and they will send the shuttle for you. It is less than $55 for a week. I have forgetten the exact amt.

Both BOS and PVD are the same distance for me (at least now that the TW tunnel is available.) I still prefer to fly out of PVD if possible. I've never had trouble getting in/out, the parking is much cheaper than Logan, and there is so little walking to do, even if your flight is at either end of the terminal. I find that the long term parking lot works well. The weekly rate is $56 (daily is $11) and I've never waited longer than 5 minutes for a shuttle bus.

My wife and I are heading out sans kids in 2 weeks. Neither of us have been down there in about 15 years. We can't wait!!!!

Welcome to a fellow Quincy-ite!!
So much better going South on the trying to get through the traffic on the Expressway !!! Unless you are using harbor express

We have used both. I go with the lower price. We flew with southwest Oct 2002, $119 R/T to Orlando, wish I could find that again.

Good Luck!
