How is the hoop-dee-doo?

I would go every trip if not for the cost. But for a special evening, go for it! It is too funny. The show is centered around a travelling vaudeville troupe. They sing, they dance, they tell jokes (both good and bad!) Over all the humor is slap stick and sometimes side-splitting. My poor DD8 couldn't eat for holding her sides from laughing!

The food is pretty good. The fried chicken is excellent. Corn on the cob has been replaced by regular corn. Baked beans, beef ribs, and strawberry shortcake round out the menu. Oh, and the tip and drinks are included in the price, (including beer and wine!)

So if it were me... I'd definitely do it if the budget allows!

Hoop-Dee-Doo

Have to agree with disbug on all counts. Believe there is also a big salad bowl brought to table, and it is all you can eat. Six stars out of five!! Bob

Quick question.

You mention "tip and drink" is included - did you mean TAX and drink?

I was wondering about tipping - I knew that tax and unlimited drinks were included.

Been going since I was a kid, and always it has been my very favorite night at WDW. I was nervous about bringing my DH for his first time in 2001...maybe it wouldn't be as great as I had remembered it. Many on these boards and elsewhere contend the food is boring and the show too corny.

Guess what?! He AND my kids (DD7 and DS5) LOVED it as much as I do! It's a "MUST DO" for all of us every trip! Actually, we think the cost is extremely reasonable for what you get: hilarious entertainment, priceless family memories, unlimited great food (no, it's not fancy, but it is delicious, best fried chicken anywhere), beer, SANGRIA (yum, yummy). And yes, tax and tip are included. We consider it one of the best values in all of WDW. Remember, it's not just a meal you're paying for; it is a dinner theater. Where can you buy that for $49.01?

Tip is included in the price.
We gave our waitress an extra tip though because she was so awesome.
It's a great time-well worth the money.

Fabulous, A-plus...must-do! It is such a magical part of the Disney experience....you really won't regret it! And, like the previous responder, we also added an extra tip for our server, who was as entertaining as the show! It's a great time...for adults and kids!

We enjoy the dinner and just love the show.We have seen many cast changes over the years but all have done a great job with the material.I got to be in show once I was chosen to be Davys angel.I got a Pioneer Hall Players certificate which I still treasure. We go each trip and enjoy HDDR each time we go.::yes:: :wave2:

Next trip will be just DD (almost 3) and I. How hard is HDDR to get to from WL? (We would take the boat over, but how hard is it to find after getting off the boat?) Do you think it's too long for a 3 year old to sit through?

We went with grandparents, DS (just turned 7), DD (just turned 3) and DS (15 months), and all of the kids did really well.....even the 15 month old leaned back against me and just watched the action.....had been unprecedented for him to sit still so long. Our 3 year old did great and laughed along with all the jokes.....I couldn't figure out what she was laughing about as she couldn't have understood most of them, but she just liked being part of the crowd and joining in. All of the kids really seemed to enjoy it. I think it helped that we were really close to the stage.....I think they assign the tables in the order the reservations are made, so make your reservations early!

Hoop-Dee-Doo dinners are some of my best early Disney memories. I LOVE seeing the photos of our visit when I was 3 and my dad was chosen from the crowd to get involved. We went again about 7 years later and I vividly remember him dancing across the stage in the pink tu-tu. He has certificates from both events =) Crazy he got chosen twice!

That show holds great memories for me and my family. I havent been since but hope to return again now that we are visiting more often =) It really came down to money the last few times... =(

From those memories (and priceless photos!) I highly recommend it. =)

We've been three times and it was great each and everytime. This trip we opted out, but I'm already hearing sorrow from the family, so that should tell you somehting.

Great! Even for those who don't think it will be their cup of tea. I think it is enjoyable for all ages! The CM's really do a great job at creating a fun atmosphere!

Do they have mashed potatoes or biscuits as part of the meal?:D

Okay...no one throw food at me.....but I am going to give a different opinion. We went to "The Hoop" on our honeymoon. It wasnt too bad to get to, as we took a cab there, but getting back was not as fun. We got on one bus, that took us to an outer enterence where we waited for a second bus for 20 minutes, to get on a 3rd bus to finally go back to CBR.

I thought the entertainment was cheezy- I was expecting more than a "camp play feeling"but if I had little kids I would take them in a heartbeat. We had a table smack in the front row, stage right. It was a little too slap stick- ham it up humor for me.

I couldnt believe the food for what we paid- and I dont mean that in a good way, quality was low. Neither of us ate much- I went to bed hungry.

The best part was a surprise carriage ride my husband had waiting for us when we got out of Hoop de Do. Wonderful cast member-carriage driver too!

If you have kids- take them. If not, skip it, you wont miss a thing.

Now, all of that said, I can appreciate that everyone has different opinions, and I could quite possibly be in the minority here... and I think thats part of what makes Disney World so great, theres something for everyone.
I LOVED Cirque du Soliel, La Nouba. Im sure someone out there wasnt into it.

Its Disney World- Have fun!!:Pinkbounc

this sounds great for my 10 yr old son plus my sisters two kids ages 9 and 7.

does anybody know the prices for kids and adults??
thanks Brooke

OK - everyone has comment on the HDD.
Yes we love it - son won a glass boot from our server for all the
ribs he eat and his giant pile of bones ;)

Food-
Call 48 hours in advance WDW dine #.
Request - vegetarian, no salt, childrens pizza, PB&J,
Mac & Cheese, any special dietary needs.
WDW wants you to enjoy the HDD show and not worry
about your food.

When you get to the HDD remind your sever of your food request - make sure YOU did call 48 hours in advance or the staff
can not help with your food order.

I hope this helps everyone.
My DD had pizza. I saw the table in front of us get a fruit platter.
They aim to please - just give the HDD chefs a 48 hour warning.
You can even mention when you make your ressie. ::yes::
