I have a ADR for next Fri lunch. I know PH isnt known for its food but we plan on just getting a couple appys and drinks. We havent tried this paticular PH and my step son has never been to one at all.

How is the VIP platter appy and the sliders appy?

Well, if you just make a ressie for appys and drinkys you might not be as disapointy as you would if you tried to eaty the swilly they serve as foody.

Ok, ridiculous abbreviations aside I have never had an edible meal at Planet Hollywood let alone a decent one. There are very few restaurants at WDW I would refuse to eat at but PH is one of them. If you want to eat at one of the themed restaurants I would go over to the Rainforest Cafe where the food is much better, at least as far as the over the top atmosphere style restaurants go instead of suffering through Planet Hollywood.

We always eat here when we go because of the atmosphere. The food is average. We have always used the DDP, so this time we might do the same as you and just get appetizers since we only have the QSDP. Our DDs love eating there. BTW, the kid's pizza is huge and could be shared by 2 or 3 kids.

It is really bad, but then again so is most of the overpriced crap that Disney calls dining:)

well... it's like an applebee's i guess. i'm not a huge fan of applebees (i much prefer fridays ) we ate there our first trip, but haven't been back. it's so LOUD in there you can't hear a thing--you must read lips well, lol. it's not that it was horrible... especially compared to the junk that i eat at home--but there's SO many better options at wdw!!

you'll still have fun, but if you have a chance to go somewhere else, i guess i would.

Hated it. Overcrowded. Noisy. Lousy food. (and I'm not that picky, I happen to like Appleby's). The kids would not let me take them back if I tried. Just the thought of it makes them cry out.

Oh my.. defanitely sounds like I need to change.. I appreciate the heads up and Frank.. You made me laugh out loud! LOL

Hello BlueJasmine, how's life treatin' ya? :wizard:

Umm, I'm sorry, I don't want to burst your bubble but I have to agree with DVCconvert above me.

Over the years my family and I have been to Planet HollyWood a few times and I have to say that it is not one of our favorite restaurants. The food is okay, it's not bad, but you're not going to sit there and say "HOLY ---- THIS IS AWESOME!" ... the food is par and overpriced.

Now, overpriced food at Disney or the Disney area is nothing new and not even a surprise for first timers but usually you have something in the way of atmosphere to make up for it. In this case I DON'T think that the atmosphere makes up for the high price of the food. LuvLuvLuv was correct in saying that it reminds me, sort of, like an AppleBees ... some stuff hanging on the wall but nothing super impressive.

But listen ... this is YOUR vacation and if you really want to try it PLEASE do not let me or anyone else talk you out of it! These are OUR opinions ... apparently other people must like going there or it would have went under years ago. It sounds like you have been to another Planet HollyWood in the past ... if so you know the score ... whether it's a McD's here or there it is still a McD's.

However, since you are right in DownTown Disney anyway I WILL recommend RainForest Cafe and T-Rex. Not only is the food there better but, I.M.H.O., the atmosphere is head and shoulders over P.H. and more than compensates for the pricey food!

I hope my opinions helped in some small way! Should you have any other questions I am at your disposal!

Dittos on the LOUD part. My 14 yr old daughter loves it so we suffer through it from time to time. Word of advice.....don't get the chicken strips, beef jerky is more tender...I'm NOT kidding!! Their burgers are pretty good. Rainforest or T-Rex are alot neater and the food choices are better.

How old is your step son? If he is younger, 4 - 10-ish, I think he would like Rainforest better then Planet Hollywood as far as the atmosphere and theming goes even if you set aside the food. At least the kids I know in that age range would. T-Rex is another option but it is mind-numbingly loud. I would take the noise there over the food at PH though so I really think you'd be better off at either. There is also an ESPN restaurant at the Boardwalk if he is a little older and into sports that I'd do before PH.

My mom & I eat here cause we get the $15 voucher.

We've had the salads & last time I did a pasta dish. We always like our food, have good service & enjoy the theming. Have done lunch & dinner.

Now we have been to Rainforest & won't go back. Perhaps if you have kids they might enjoy that theming better?

I'm afraid to go against the gang here but my favorite dish on our last trip was at Planet Hollywood. I'm not normally a chain restaurant enthusiast but I loved the meal and the kids loved the atmosphere. I had the garlic shrimp stirfry and it was amazing. I'm looking forward to going back and having it again. I thought the service was pretty good considering the hectic pace.

Well we decided to stay with PH. Stepson 10 has been to RFC in Nashville many times and we are going to Trex in Sept (our fave) and well we are only getting appys, drinks and a kids meal, so it wont be a big waste of money if we dont like it.

I am glad to hear there are ppl who have had good experiences here. We went to the PH in Myrtle Beach years ago and I thought the experience wasnt bad, food was a bit on the bland side BUT not the worst so we decided to stick with it.

I do wish we were going to WGPE or TRex tho! LOL Thanks eveyone! Have a great day!

The food isn't bad. We go there because we get the $15 meal voucher in the MYW Package. The past few times we've only gotten appetizers and drinks. There are certainly better places to eat at WDW than PH.

Update: I canceled PH b/c I was able to get CM for next Sat night which is what I wanted for step son anway, while I hear the food isnt great the character interaction is and for a 10yr old first visit I think that will be great.

So we decided to just do lunch at WGPE and grab EOS after DQ and shopping to take back to resort to enjoy by the pool..

Chef Mickey's is so much better for a child. When we went there was a woman in the ladies room trying to get tips by sitting on a stool and staring at people. Checking out the movie memorabilia can be fun for adults but the noise is overpowering.

Love PH!!, me and my DS make a point to go there at least once evry trip. I am not going to say you will love or hate the food, everyones tastes are diffrent but the themming and atmesphere is great. Really the only food item we did not care for was the fries,we just did not care for them. We find it to be a very fun place to eat:goodvibes
