How is Papa Johns Pizza?

They just opened one up by us and I dont know if we should try it or not. I hate Dominoes and Little Ceasars and I will tolerate Pizza Hut for a reference point. This is NY, so we like good pizza here but might be open to trying it once. Nothing like that Hawaiian one either.!!

Also being from NY and having the same taste as you described for "other" types of pizza, I'm betting you will not like it. A few years ago DW got suckered into buying this coupon book from them for $20...that first (and last) pizza cost us the $14 for the pie and $20 for the coupon book.

I'm in a slightly differnet situation given that my parents used to have a "true" pizza place...yes I can say that those franchise pizza stores are not true pizza...they don't make their own dough, they don't make their own sauce - some of them don't make their own pizzas they are frozen in a box and just heated up for you. I learned how to make pizza when I was 13, sauce, dough everything. True NY pizza is not something you can get out of a tractor trailer that comes trom out of state. As for any of the chains, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns, Sbarros, Pizzeria Uno or Godfathers - you can keep'em - I'm a pizza snob - but I can be, I live in the pizza capital of the world.

Definitely try the garlic sauce with the pizza and breadsticks.
The chicken fingers are also incredibly yummy.

The chicken fingers are surprisingly good. We ordered some on the side for DS and ended up fighting over them. I like mine dipped in ranch.

We ordered from Papa John's when we were in Anaheim last month. It was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Wanted thin crust, they said they couldn't do it. Wanted mushrooms on the pizza, they were out. Some other topping they were out of too. Settled on what we wanted, ordered the breadsticks as well, and waited.

More than an hour later it arrived. It was horrid. The bread sticks were good, but most of the pizza went into the garbage.

My dd loves Papa John's pizzas. I think their crust tastes like crackers. I don't like their pizza.

Its pretty good. LOVE the Garlic Butter Sauce. Mmm. Haven't had pizza from them in awhile, though. Not since Little Ceaser's started the $5 Large pizza!
