How is Kona's lunch menu?

We're considering a late big lunch at Kona Cafe around 2:30pm before heading out to MK for MNSSHP at 4pm. I've seen a lot of threads and posts commenting on breakfast and dinner at Kona, but haven't seen much in regards to lunch. The menu looks good to me, but was wondering what other people's experiences were. TIA!

We enjoyed it. It was definitely more of a lunch vibe than some other restaurants. I would also recommend the Plaza before MNSSHP. We would get a 4pm when the tickets would let us in. We really enjoy this option.

It's great!!!

We stayed at Poly in January and had a 12:30pm ADR at Kona on our arrival day. After many stays at Poly and many meals at Ohana, we thought we should try Kona. We're not big breakfast eaters, so we make breakfast ADRs very occasionally and only for the characters. We already had plans in the parks for dinner, so lunch on arrival day was a perfect time.

I loved it! The menu was great with nice variety - it was difficult to decide. I ordered the pork tacos and loved them. My husband thought the service was a little slow for Disney, but it wasn't a problem.

If you're around for lunch, I highly recommend it!

Kona Cafe is my favorite place for lunch. I think their lunch menu is better than their dinner menu. It's very reasonable and light but filling. If you're not planning to get a CS snack during or after the party, though, I would try for am ADR someplace that has a buffet.

The pulled pork tacos are a must do for me every trip.

Thanks for all your thoughts! :thumbsup2

We tried the Plaza and liked it during our last trip. But since we don't get to visit WDW all that often, we want to try out as many new restaurants as possible.

We'll most likely do CS snack during the party since I don't think our kids could go that long without anything to eat in the evening. Didn't want to do TS though since we're only doing one night of MNSSHP and didn't want to lose previous party hours eating ;)

The tacos, burger, and sandwich options sounded very appealing to me on the lunch menu which is why I thought this might be a place to give it a go. Plus we're booked at the Poly so it would be very convenient as well.

We did lunch at Kona during our first day to get out of the MK for a few hours. We loved it. I would highly recommend the fish tacos, if you like fish. I am a huge fish tacos fan and those certainly did not disappoint. The handmade tortillas are awesome so I am sure the pork tacos are good as well.

We did Kona for lunch last week on our last day and we LOVED it!

I can't remember everything we got but I know I got the burger and my son got the pork taco. They were fabulous.

My boys loved the Kona Cones they had for dessert!

We had the most incredible lunch there in Nov 09, a million times better than dinner

Thanks everyone. I'm sold! :thumbsup2

Now I have the tough job of picking between the burger I had been eyeing on and the pork/fish tacos everyone's been talking about. Hmmm, maybe we'll have to go twice :goodvibes

We went there for lunch maybe two months ago and really liked it.

The Poly is such a nice cool environment to get away from the chaos of the parks.

We had the teriyaki steak and I had the chicken w/ mango salsa. Both were very yummy and the portion was the right size not to weigh you down for the rest of the day.

Enjoy!

This is one of our standard lunch spots. It is a nice midday break for a hot MK touring day. The food is good and a little stop in the Poly is a fun thing to do.

two words: coconut chicken :thumbsup2

Also, if you are on Photo Pass, go visit the Photo Pass kiosk on the second floor - you can get pictures in the lobby, which is just gorgeous.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE lunch!

The pulled pork and fish tacos are amazing. Also, the calamari salad is great too! I clean the plate any time I get it!

My husband and I have always stayed at the Polynesian and Kona Cafe is our go to for post flight, pre hotel check in lunch. It is amazing. Get the salad, so yummy and refreshing!

I prefer the Kona lunch to dinner. The two best lunches I've had at the monorail resorts were Kona and The Wave.
