How is it possible that Domino's is a profitable company?

The answer is "cheap pizza". I am willing to bet that Domino's success has a lot to do with being in college towns. I can't stand the stuff now but in college a large cheese pizza could be had for $5, which (if I could keep my roommates out of it) would feed me for three nights.

Cheap pizza can still be good. There's a place near my house, Pizza Patron, their pizza is cheap $5 for a large pepperoni and it's still better then Dominos.

My new favorite place however is Wholefoods. They've got delicious pizza - in really awesome flavors.

We make our own. Under $6 for enough to have dinner and leftovers!

I like Dominos too. It's not the best pizza ever, but I like the thin n crispy and Brooklyn style a lot. Their cinna-sticks are yummy! We live in a rural area and Domino's and Papa John's are the only places that deliver. Now I think Papa John's is gross, I hate their pizza. I like Pizza Hut but the one's in the city have either gone out of business or are so dirty we won't eat there.

We eat more frozen pizza than delivery though. We like Palermo's and Target's Archer Farms brand the best.

We bought two large pies from our local, organic, vegetarian-friendly pizzaria last night; it came to $28. How much would Dominos have charged us? That's how Dominos stays in business! :rotfl:

What I can't understand is how Dominos survives here! Pizza Hut and Papa Johns didn't, because there are dozens of great pizzarias here, and most have special nights where you can get a large pizza (and a large at these places is much bigger than Domino's large) for $6.95. Dominos tastes like frozen pizza.

CiCi's is a trough....

Don't know about the rest of the country, but here CiCi's is cheaper than getting hamburgers at McDonald's for a family of 4.

Domino's is not cheaper than that but it is cheaper than Pizza Hut and some of the other pizza places that deliver and they are in more remote areas so they will deliver places that Pizza Hut will not.

We don't eat out much any more, but every few weeks on dd's dance night I will get her a small pizza from Cici's. She loves it and for just the one small it is actually couple of dollars cheaper than buying one from Wal-mart.

Edited to add: down here we don't have many pizzeria style places. The couple that we do have are very expensive. We are getting a "Mellow Mushroom" (or maybe it is "yellow mushroom") and a Gatti's--supposed to have a game room or something not sure.

luvsJack, I've taken the kids to the Gattis in Jackson. It is really loud! The pizza wasn't great (buffet style) but it was ok, and the kids love the gameroom. Did I mention it it really loud!

I like Domino's. Here the only pizza places are Pizza Hut and D's. Dh likes PH better, but their customer service stinks. D's runs their pizzas for $3.99 each every month or so (for a medium one topping), and will deliver if you order 3 of them. The kids love it, and I have enough left over for lunch the next day. It may not be fine food, but there is nothing gross about it! And the delivery people are always really nice.

What is with the Cici's hate? No, it's not gourmet pizza, but I think it's pretty good considering how cheap it is. I love their variety and Men's Health rated them good in terms of nutrition.

I also like Domino's thin and crispy pizza.

Definitely not a pizza snob here!

Being from FL, Pizza Hut and chains are the only pizza I know.

ANY pizza is good to me. Even south beach diet microwave ones. haha

Our dominos isn't consistent. Sometimes we get really really good pizza. The other night we ordered and it was terrible.

We get it now and then, and the girls order it when we aren't home. They like that they can order online, and don't have to call and talk to anyone:upsidedow

I haven't had Dominos in so many years, I don't remember what its like. I LOVE Pizza Hut, but they have closed everyone around here. So sad. Papa Johns (who lives about 20 minutes from me LOL) is some of the nastiest stuff I've ever eaten.

Everyone in my family loves Domino's pizza, but I can't stand it. I also hate Pizza Hut pizza.

Domino's has excellent BBQ wings though and Pizza Hut has really good bread sticks. You could probably buy a large pizza at Domino's cheaper than you could get an order of BBQ wings though.

I figured it was some type of "grown up version" of Chuckie Cheese (talk about baaaaadddd pizza!) At least with it being buffet, maybe it is not as expensive though.

I like Dominos, but I'm not a picky eater. Those little Lava Crunch cakes they're giving away are really good.

Mmmm we love Papa John's here!! It is so yummy! :-)

I like it. We have pizza delivered once a month - usually Pizza Hut, sometimes Dominos depending on what offers they have running. We ordered Dominos twice to our hotel last time we were in Orlando and it was fantastic both times.

You get what you pay for. High-class cuisine? No. Hot, cheap, easy and tasty? You bet.

I think the cardboard box that the pizza comes in would taste better than Dominos Pizza. My kids love it so I have to eat it once in a while.

When Domino's is about the only thing in town, then it is easy to stay in business. They also deeply discount pizzas for groups, and is the only pizza place open late for lunch for the 3rd shifters.

I would take a half baked Dominos Pizza before Cici's. Any pizza would taste like gourmet after Cici's though.

We miss Pizza Oven in Canton and Giordano's in Chicago and Orlando, now that is pizza.
