Any recent reports on dinner at the buffet? How is it?

Can't seem to find much positive for any TS at DHS. So we thought we would look into H&V.

thanks for helping us plan our trip

It has been a couple years since I had dinner there. It was hands down the WORST food I've had at WDW! I would suggest eating somewhere else.

H&V has the reputation of being the worst TS restaurant in all of WDW. And I firmly and adamantly can attest to it. Try 50s PTC for some really good homestyle cookin' or Mama Melrose for good Italian food. AVOID H&V.

wow, ok, really not a good place then.
We are having Italian the next night, so i don't want Mama Melrose's for that reason.
looks like we might have to go 50's.
thanks for the info

agree with previous posters...we've given H&V several chances, both breakfast & dinner. Lousy service, mediocre food and LOUD restaurant (all tile & metal)

We do like Mama Melrose, Sci Fi (for the burgers and other sandwiches, as well as custom fountain sodas and milkshakes) and loved Brown Derby (but that's pricey)

We went a year ago and liked it - good food, good service, etc. We're going back in 3 weeks and both kids wanted to go to H&V again.

We actually had a really good all around experience when we went. We try to experience all of the restaurants and as you'll soon find, you're going to get a wide array of opinions.

Last time we did SciFi...very cool ambience, average food.

This time we are doing 50's Prime Time and H&V on a different night as part of thr Fantasmic show.

H&V - Food at dinner was only so so. Restaurant was extremely loud with many, many, many kids just running around rather than sitting at tables eating. Service was horrible. Asked 3 times for drink refills and never got them. Had to wait 30 minutes for our bill. We'll NEVER go there again.

Sci Fi - We've always enjoyed it there. The atmosphere is so much fun. The food that we've had has always been good. Service has also been good as well.

Best food at Hollywood Studios is the Brown Derby. Their ahi tuna appetizer is really delicious. ::MinnieMo

One of two places we will never go to again (WCC being the other). Yuck! Awful food, terrible service, filthy restaurant. The food was lukewarm at best and very slow in replacing. The best part was the dessert.

We have eaten at Hollywood and Vine twice and we thought the food was pretty good. No one in our family thought it was bad, I wouldn't say it's outstanding or the best meal in Disney, but decent. Guess everyone's taste's are differnt though.

Also, we really LOVE Whispering Canyon Cafe - that's a favorite with our crew.

Thanks for the warnings about the H&V, I will give it a miss a well. I love the 50s dinner my then 4 year old totally cracked up when mum made me eat my Veggies.

I went this past January and had a great experience there. Our reservations were for 6:30, the place was full but it was mostly adults, and our server was great.

The food was standard buffet fare, but pretty fresh and really good. I had a nice mix of salads, vegetables, a few fish options, and a few chicken options. I passed on dessert. I don't know if I thought it was so good because we went in with such low expectations that we were wowed, but I'd definitely go again.

we have eaten there about 1 1/2 yrs ago and had no problems.
we are going there again in 2 weeks....it is standard buffet food. but everything was fresh, the service was good
its always subjective, what some people find as a good place, others cant stand...im also one that likes tonys in the MK (but thats an entirely different thread)

i also like 50s ptc always a good meal there

seems to be a 50/50 opinion
I think we will skip it just in case we get the not so good part of the deal

H & V is one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW that I will NEVER return to.
Food was horrible, we were surrounded by dirty, unbused tables, the waitress was rude and the Rest Rooms were filthy. Never Again

My family thought the food was okay... I've got a picky son, so buffets are pretty good options for us. Everyone left happy, not wowed either way.

Just goes to show how every experience/expectations are different: my family voted to NEVER do dinner at O'hana ever again after a less than great experience. (but oh, that bread pudding... how I miss you, bread pudding...)

My family ate at H&V in September. We picked H&V as part of the Fantasmic package. We had a good experience. Our server was super nice and kept the drinks filled. The kids liked the food just wished there was a better selection. I was really impressed when DS9 didn't like the broccoli and carrot mixture. The girls behind the buffet made him his own dish of baby carrots. He was in heaven.
It wasn't our best meal that week but it wasn't the worst either.

Good luck!
