How is ET?

Not to be a downer but there are rumors that Universal is going to replace ET with a smurf themed ride. I am not a huge fan of the ET ride, although I will admit I was pleasantly surprised with it. I wouldn't be crushed if they removed it as long as it was replaced with something great, and I don't think a smurf ride would be great or even better then ET.

If they are going to replace it, please no Smurfs. I can live with Jaws because I'm a big Harry Potter fan but replacing BTTF with the Simpsons is the one that really bothers me.

We do like ET and ride it every day we are in the Studios, but wouldn`t be heartbroken if they got rid of it.

But..........surely it can be replaced by something better than The Smurfs if that is what is going to happen.

But a good family ride, if done right...... will be a good family ride I suppose.

How is the ET ride? Is it more simulator like or a relaxing family ride (calm)?

It is not a simulator, but there is some ups and down and movements. Problem for me is I did MIB just before which I barely survived and then ET just about did me in so it felt worse on ET than MIB. Kids and wife just laughed, they said the ride was very relaxing!

We love ET, and ride it at least every day that we are at USF. We would definitely NOT be happy to have it replaced, and certainly would not like Smurfs there (we love the old smurf cartoons; the new movies not so much). I thought the Smurf rumor died in favor of updating ET for the new generation?? Hope so. We never saw BTTF, Jaws or Kong (which I hear may be coming back), so can't compare to them, but I really think it highly unlikely as long as Spielberg is investing in USF that they would pull out ET. If they really wanted Smurfs, I vote for replacing Twister with it!

The smurf rumour has been dead for a long time. It was an idea that was in a survey but never actually said it would replace ET. It was just a similar concept to the ET ride so people jumped to the replacement conclusion.

Orlando United is saying today that a new Lorax dark family ride is coming to IOA.
