How is Chef Mickey's these days?

Have skipped it the last couple of trips because when we had the dinner buffet there a few years ago it was a major gyp. :sad2: It was extremely expensive and the buffet was just not good at all. Am thinking about trying it again this fall but not unless I hear that it's improved. Any thoughts?

All the buffets are hit or miss. I've never found any that are consistantly good. We had an awful meal last June at CM, so bad the entire family was sick afterwards. DS5 insisted we return in Nov. We went in expecting a horrible meal and were surprised that it was really really good. This trip we have just breakfast planned, I'm trying to limit our buffets :rotfl: There's just so many I can handle in eight days :rotfl2:

I say go and give it another try. Don't have high hopes and you might come out having a wonderful meal along with fantastic character interation. That's the main reason we keep returning, gotta love those Fab 5!

Chef Mickey's is not about the food, it is about the characters. You dont go there for the food, you go there for the characters. Its a buffett which normally are not great anywhere in r out of wdw.

I definitely say go for Breakfast. They have a very good one, which you really can't go wrong for breakfast. Our dinner last July was just okay, nothing great and some things were sitting for awhile and cold and stare.

While the food isn't that great, we go to Chef Mickey's for the atmosphere. We love meeting the characters and it's fun swinging our napkins and singing along.

I'm doing lunch during free dining. I wonder if the food will be the same as dinner or a lighter fare? :confused3

I asked this questions tonight... my CM put me on hold came back and said it is the same as dinner.... Is tht a firm answer...nope. I am sure it is not.. but that is what I was told tonight.

So I booked lunch and let my 7:55 dinner go....

I am fine with what ever it is.. It is the first day after our plane ride and will get the kids in the Disney groove!!!!

We went to Chef Mickey's for dinner the first night we arrived. Some of the food was actually very good. We had mango flavored ribs and chipotle lime chicken that were both to die for. From everything that I have read, it is hit or miss. Our night was a hit. Our girls loved the interaction with the characters and we enjoyed the food and desserts. What else could you ask for......?

As previously stated, generally you go to Chef Mickey's for the character interaction. This is why we enjoy our breakfasts there much more than our dinners.

The year that we did the DDP we did both a dinner and a breakfast at CM's. Even on the DDP we didn't enjoy the dinner. Food was mediocre at best and if we'd shelled out that amount of cash we'd have been even less happy.

Breakfast was much better in Character Interaction, Food, and overall experience. It's also much cheaper for those paying out of pocket.

I didn't realize Chef Mickey's had lunch!?!? I though the breakfast buffet was served 7 am - 11:30 am and then the dinner buffet was served from 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm.

We just ate there for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it. I enjoyed the parmasan mashed potatoes, the mushroom ravioli and the chicken marsala. It's definitely on our list for December.
