I'm going to need a rental from either Alamo or National at SFB next trip. Is this a quick and painless process or should I plan on a long wait? We'll probably land at 10:30 am on a Thurs. if that matters. Does Alamo offer Quicksilver or whatever they call their express service at SFB? I'm pretty much limited to these two companies because I'm leaving the car at Swan and Swan only has Alamo/National.

Thanks,

Hi Bill,
We used National out of Sanford and it was quick and painless. The airport is very small and the National office is right outside (walk out of the terminal). No problems at all and we actually prefer this airport by far to MCO. There was no one at the counter either upon pick up or return. Very efficient counter and actually took us less time than the Emerald Aisle does. Hope that helps!:D

My only comment, which I don't think pertains to your flight as you get in in the morning, is that, unlike MCO, the counters actually have hours and they will close at night. We ran into this little issue three years ago and had to get a hotel room for the night until the car companies opened the next morning. Very few people use the airport so you will have little to no wait. The counters are outside in a separate building - but don't think that means a hike, they are just across a crosswalk.

When i tried to make the ressie it kept coming up and saying the office is closed and you cannot make a reservation after 8:00pm, so i called them directly, you can get the number from the sfb website and they said they have a contract to be there until the last plane arrives, so i used a code but was afraid until we got there and it was fine they are so small and personal we will never fly into mco again.

I believe that they are only required to stay till the last plane was scheduled to arrive. We got in about six hours late - don't ask, very long PanAm story that is horrific - so we got in after the airport had actually closed and well after we were scheduled to get in. No rental car companies were open and they would not open again until the airport opened in the morning. I would still caution anyone about this as your plane may be delayed in arriving. But, that being said, a morning flight is pretty assured of getting in prior to the counters closing.
