How is Aquatica?

I'm trying to decide between Aquatica or one of the Disney water parks, and I've never been to any of them. Any advice is appreciated!

I think Aquatica is pretty good, but if I had Disney tickets (here in the UK they normally sell a 14 day Ultimate pass for all things Disney) I don't think I would pay extra for Aquatica.

If however I didn't have the Ultimate ticket I would book Aquatica. We have had some really good days there, the kids (11 & 8) both enjoyed it and we are going back this year.

We've done both Disney Water Parks and Aquatica. DH and I loved them all equally but the kids favourite (5 and 7 at the time) was definitely Aquatica. Thats the one they are asking to go back to next trip.s

We've never done Disney water parks but did Aquatica last summer. My boys loved it! We are going back to Sea World for a couple of days but have a surprise Disney trip so we added the Disney water parks this time- I am so hoping they won't be disappointed that we aren't doing Aquatica!

We were at Aquatica last week. Loved it!!!:thumbsup2

Easy to navigate, and find things. Food decent. We had a cabana which made it really nice to relax

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your cabana! We reserved one for our July trip and am looking forward to it. May I ask you if you had a mini fridge in yours and was it stocked with soda and water or just water? Did you have a locker in your cabana too? Are cabanas assigned according to when you arrive (first come, first pick so to speak?). Thanks for any info you can provide on the cabanas...I am constantly searching for reviews and opinions from people who have experienced using one at Aqautica!

I booked a standard. The water views were are taken. And book ahead of time. I got it for $100, but the price was $200 if u rented after arriving.

We had 2 full size loungers, 2 low chair loungers, and 2 chairs, along with a small table.

There is a very good sized fridge. Had I thought about it, I would have brought some soda, as it def would have fit. It was only stocked with water, but they were nice and cold.

The locker was a very good size, plenty of room. and then another storage area that isn't locked, but secure.

It did look as if they were just given out first come first serve. The person in front of us was given directions to the last cabana to the right of the pool and then we were directed to the first cabana to the left of the pools.

SOme things to note:
There is an employee who directs and checks on you throughout the day. They also keep people out of the area who don't have a cabana rented. I never felt like I couldn't leave stuff out

The all you can eat buffet looked decent and a decent price if there all day, however you can't take the food out, so if you want to get food to eat in the cabana, this isn't the choice you want to go with.

Also the cabanas to the left are uphill from the smoking area. It wasn't bad, but if the breeze was right, you could get a wiff of cig smoke. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if someone is sensitive it could be an issue.

The towels are very small. I kind of wish we would have borrowed one from our hotel.

Thanks Ohio...that's great information! I'm sad to see that they no longer provide soda (I am unfortunately a soda drinker!), but 12 bottles of cold water will do! I didn't think we were able to bring in outside drinks into the parks other than water. I appreciate the tips on towels too! I might just sneak a couple of the larger hotel pool towels to use for the day too!

A great tip to book the cabana as early as possible. You can always cancel your reservations should plans change. We booked our cabana back in January (6 months out) and the cabana was $130, if I were to book it today (still at 3 months out), the exact same cabana would cost me $250!!!!:scared1:

I agree - I think I would let what other tickets I had dictate which water park I chose. It's so afforable to just add it on to multiday Disney tickets if you are going there anyway. If money is no object and you want to try something new, I think you would be very happy spending a day at Aquatica. There were plenty of shady spots (we arrived at opening) and lots to keep us busy throughout the day.

We've been to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and finally Aquatica a few weeks ago. We really love all three and no one in the family could pick an obvious favorite. The wave pool at Aquatica reminded me more of BB. Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool is still the most fun.

I have to agree with the others that Aquatica and the Disney water parks are all fun and it just depends on the tickets you have or the deals you find.

We went to Aquatica twice 2 weeks ago because it was included in our tickets (Super Grover passes from Sesame Place, good for Sea World, Busch gardens, Aquatica). Everyone (2 adults, 7 & 10 yo kids) loved it!

The favorite was the rapids river. It's a fast moving river ride that you just sort of sit in and it moves you. No tube.

we didn't have a cabana but left a small cooler bag and our towels on a shaded chair. I had a dorky looking waterproof container around my neck for our passes and some money. We really didn't bring a lot because we only stayed half days each time. No one used their towels until we left.

They have 2 wave pools side by side and they're a little different. It's worth trying them both! Both kids like the play area in the back with a bunch of small slides and climbing things. There is also a little kid area but they are too big for that. I think it's under 42".
