How intense is Space Mountain?

I find it very jerky and uncomfortable. I'm only 34 and haven't ridden it in at least 3 years. It also causes my motion sickness to act up so I just sit this one out now. My currently 8 year old has been riding it for a while now and enjoys it.

I would disagree. It depends on the child. My younger (turns 5 next week) loved EE. Begged to go on over and over, loves splash, BTMR, etc. HATED, yes HATED SM. I held her shoulders the whole time but she said it jerked her around so much it hurt and got off crying. I found it jerker than I remember past rides as well. I know many others whose children 5-7 loves roller coasters but do not like SM. So I would not list it as a 2/10.

I agree. Depends on the child. I wouldn't take my 5 year old on it...she was terrified onBTMR and never would've handled it especially with having to sit on her own and no one directly beside her. Coming from someone who grew up at Cedar Point I don't think id rate it 2/10. Noe if your child is used to coasters it may be different...

Haven't read all posts, but my word of advice is make sure you sit in the front car, as the rear is much jerkier.

I have always loved coasters and could ride EE and RNRC over and over!

My kids love SM and I hate to admit this, but I HATE it, lol! I ride it with my kids, because I'm afraid for them to go on it alone, but I hate every minute of it (and might be holding my breath through the ride, who knows?). I know it's not fast and doesn't have high drops, but it is ROUGH and jerks the sense out of you! My kids have been going on it since they were tall enough, but I'm always relieved when it's over!

I am a 48 year old woman with ongoing back issues and frequent migraines. I don't do rides that will cause the rest of my day to by miserable. I don't do Space Mountain anymore because after our last trip I decided it was a "baby ride". The adult beside me was screaming at the top of his lungs and I was thinking "Really? This is lame, wimp!" Space mountain is on my list of been there, done that, not riding anymore...until I have grandchildren I have to take.

I guess I was thinking coaster intensity like:

10- Top Thrill, Millennium, Maverick
9- Banshee, Magnum, Beast
8- Firehawk, Raptor, Mantis
7- Mean Steak, Flight of Fear
5- Rock and Roll, Corkscrew
4- Wicked Twister, Gemini
3- Everest, Blue Streak
2- Space Mountain, Iron Dragon
1- Mine Ride, BTMRR
