It's a little quiet on the Photography boards the last couple days and I have a few more photos processed, so I'll do another installment in my "how I spent my summer" thread. Starting a new thread probably makes more sense than continuing the first part.

These shots are from July... we visited the local amusement park, Seabreeze, again. I posted some shots from there last summer, and we actually did a couple trips this year... here's some from the first trip.

This shot is interesting to me partly because it's the first time I used Lightroom 2's "brush" - I did a little "dodging" on the headlights and front of the hood, which were originally pretty blown out. I'm pretty happy with the results.

It was pretty hot and humid, so my son was having a "bad hair day"!

We stopped in to get some lunch (there was a corporate picnic for my father-in-law's employer) and got there just before a torrential thunderstorm - phew! For me at least, rain is very difficult to photograph; this is something I'll continue to work on later in the summer. (There's lots of rain shots in a later event of the summer!)

Last year I mentioned a little about the history of the park's wooden coaster, the Jack Rabbit. Suffice to say, it's a classic and the fourth-oldest operating coaster in the world, second-oldest in the country, and was built in 1920. It's still a blast! I love a good old-fasioned wooden coaster.

Here's a shot that my wife took of the Jack Rabbit in the background and the kiddie Bear Trax in the foreground (I was waiting in line with my son, who loves that ride!)

The log flume from the train ride... overexposed a little unfortunately. :(

An attempt at an artsy short-DoF shot. In retrospect, it probably should have been a little smaller of an aperture, to get the rope in focus.

I enjoy the old Wurlitzer Band Organ by the carousel... it's actually a fairly recently-built one, as the original was destroyed in a fire, but it's playing the old music rolls and I still think of it as an "old" one. Here's some b/w shots... the last one in particular was "grained up" a little on purpose.

Another thing I try to do in the summer is meet up for breakfast with the local Lotus car club. With my kid, I don't get a chance to take mine out very often any more, but this morning we drove two cars (wife and son in her car) so that I could bring it out. Here's some shots from one Sunday morning...

A bunch of us went for a quick run down a nearby twisty creekside road and stopped to chat afterwards before going out separate ways. My car is the yellow one on the right.

There's another shot from this group in the self-portraits thread.

I hope you enjoyed! Comments always appreciated. :teeth: Hopefully a "steam-powered" part 3 will be coming soon...

Great pics Groucho. Several made me think, "Ooh, I want to try that!" I'm a perspective person so these were a lot of fun to look at. Your son is a cutie too. For what it's worth my boys hair always looks like that no humidity required!:lmao:

Love the pictures. I would love to see your original of the first picture. I like before and afters!

Thanks wenrob, YesDear, and dcg0317!

Sure, though it's not very exciting. Actually, the headlights made the photo very underexposed, but since it was only ISO 100, it was easy to bring it up to the proper level without noticeable noise, and using the dodge tool kept the headlights from getting blown out.
