How I learned to live with a cranky husband: our 10 day honeymoon

Hey everyone, me again. Just thought I'd drop in to say hi. My wife and I are going to try to update about once a day or so. It's pretty enthralling so far isn't it? Action-packed and super exciting I'd say. This trip was so fun, we are both kind of counting it as our first trip since we really don't remember a lot about our previous trips as children. Hopefully I can bother April enough to get her to write some more tonight (I'm not writing this whole thing because she is better at it than me and I don't have the best memory so I'd probably leave out some amazing details like the guy who was staying at the "Grand Feridian" or the really smelly honeymooning couple we ran into - ask my wife to tell you all about them, she will remember it better than I can). I also start two new jobs tomorrow so I might not have a lot of time to entertain you all. Anyway, leave my wife some comments and demand that she write more, she needs a little encouragement to stay on top of things like this.

My DH posted a quick blurb last night about keeping me on top of updating and I have to say that I am trying my best. :thumbsup2 Oh, let me tell you that he likes to get ahead of himself. He mentioned the man who kept calling the GF the "Grand Feridian" and the stinky couple, but those people do not show up until later on in the trip report. Sorry, you'll just have to wait for those "characters" to show up. :rotfl:

Okay, okay...need to focus...get back to the trip report and finish up Day 1. The people want to get to Day 2 and MK...

After we dropped our leftovers off at the hotel we headed over to DTD. Yes!! You know what that means...Shopping!! Just to let you know, I love shopping. My husband doesn't help my addiction either. He always makes comments about how I should get what I want and all that jazz. I know that is every (well, most every) womans' dream, but it is not good for the bank account.:scared:

We parked our car right out side of Pleasure Island and walked over to the first store we wanted to hit. Off course it was World of Disney because it has so much stuff in it. On our way up to the store we noticed the window displays and let me tell you I was excited to see that it was my favorite princess.

Yay for princess Aurora!! I love all things Sleeping Beauty. You will see that throughout the trip report that most of the items I buy are Sleeping Beauty related.

After taking my picture with the window display, we headed into the store. I was kinda overwhelmed with the size and the amount of people that were in the store. That night it was jam packed. My DH and I meandered through the store and checked out all the merchandise. We went over to the kitchen and housewares part of the store and found a mug that I had to buy. I can always use mugs for my hot chocolate or coffee. Yes, the mug is Sleeping Beauty themed. I'll have to take a picture of it to show everyone what it looks like. For now, I will describe it. The mug looks like Aurora's castle and in one of the windows there is Aurora with Phillip and they are sharing true love's first kiss. In the other window the beginning of the story is written out.
That was our first of many purchases at WDW!

So after we found my mug, we walked around until we came to the pin section of the store. We had decided that we wanted to start pin trading so we were looking at some pins that we could trade. Now, I like pretty much all little kids. I worked in child care for 3 years so I've had kids from age 5 to 13. I know that they do things that can be considered rude, but usually parents correct them and teach them was is and is not acceptable. These kids looking at the pins while we were there must not have been raised that way. So here's the story... I was down on my knees looking at some pins and my DH was right behind me. I was turning the spinner to look at the rest of the pins on the column when a 7 or 8 yr old boy came up and tried to move me out of the way. Then his little sister came up and started shoving in also. I looked at my DH with that puzzeled look I get when I don't know what to do. Well, as I was looking at my DH I saw the father of the kids standing close to my DH. The Dad asked his kids if they had found the pin they were looking for and he acted like nothing rude had happened. I wasn't mad at the kids because they didn't know any better. It was the father who I was ticked at because he let his kids trample on me and didn't even offer an "I'm sorry" or "Hey kids, when we want to look at something or go around someone we say excuse me". :confused3 If I would have done that as a kid, I would have been in big trouble.

We left World of Disney after looking around some more and then I got my picture with Aurora. :)

We went to every store in DTD. My favorite store is Disney's Days of Christmas. Over there we picked up a Minnie and Mickey "Our First Christmas" ornament and a Sleeping Beauty ornament. I also enjoy The Art of Disney even though mostly everything in there is super expensive :scared1:. Disney, why do you tempt me with your artwork and figurines?? And of course we love the Pin Traders store. We bought too many pins on this trip:rolleyes1.

After checking out all the stores, we decided to head on back to our hotel and get some rest for the big day that was ahead of us. Tomorrow...MK:wizard:

Here are a couple more shots at DTD.

Next post: Going to MK!! We decide to ride the hotel shuttle...Is it nice? Is it on time? Does it have obnoxious signs inside of it? You'll have to wait yo find out!

Please tell me you waited in line in toontown and got your picture taken with the real Aurora. I feel about Belle the way you feel about Aurora and I waited for pictures with the princesses. It was a really magical time, even if I am 37 years old:cool2:

I love your antenna topper. That is so cute!

Another pin person. I love pins. Can't have enough!

So, another parent needs to be taught park etiquette so they can teach their children.:sad2:

Oh, next you are going to my favorite park. Can't wait to hear about it and see the pics!

Just thought I'd brag a little. I just made tonga toast. That's right, I just cooked up some of that deliciousness here at home. April doesn't like bananas, but tasted the outside of it and liked it. I viciously devoured my piece. It was awesome. I took pictures too, so when we get to the tonga toast portion of our trip report we will probably post those.

Can you share your recipe?!:confused3 :goodvibes

Great update!! :thumbsup2 I can't believe the kids you ran into (well, I can, but you know what I mean....)! Some parents just don't get it....and I can say that since I am a parent...I see things at preschool or playing with friends in the yard, some times you just have to wonder? They are doing their kids any justice by letting them act like that. Okay, I'm done! :) Can't wait to see your pics!!:goodvibes

Hey, I just found you and I'm enjoying it thus far. I noticed that you are in Knox.Tenn. My mom and stepdad use to live in Knoxville now they live in Strawberry Plains. We will be up that way for Thanksgiving. Can't wait for your updates on your honeymoon. I love Disney.

If you like making Disney dishes we have a great Disney recipe thread going (link in my sig) for Disney recipe collectors. It's just as much fun as collecting pins and it's useful as well, because you get good food out of it.

Makeitblue - you look quite a bit like Princess Aurora in the picture of the 2 of you. Maybe that's why she's your fave? :cutie:

Hey, everyone. First off, I'd like to apologize that we haven't updated lately. My grandfather has been in bad shape lately and I haven't really felt like posting. He had been in and out of the hospital the past few weeks and he passed away Wed. morning. We've been busy with all the stuff that goes on after that, and we've got a little bit left to deal with. I've been taking it pretty hard and neither of us has had time to do much more than check email once a day. We will get back on top of it soon, I promise. Right now I just really need a vacation.

sorry about your grandpa.
Don't worry we'll wait.:surfweb:
By the way great report so far. :thumbsup2

I'm, so sorry for your loss:hug:

Take your time, and take care of yourselves

We'll all still be here:flower3:

:grouphug: You and your family have our support and prayers. I know you will miss your Grandfather and loved him very much. Take the time you need, we will be here....:flower3:

First off, let me thank everyone for the condolences. We greatly appreciated them.:lovestruc

Yay, we made it to the second day of our trip and let me tell you it was so fun and magical :wizard: . Remember that I mentioned that my husband and I had not been to WDW in forever. Actually several years, but you get the point. We woke up that day like little kids on Christmas morning. We dressed and then went down for some breakfast. Let me tell you something...I love, love, love breakfast! Our hotel's breakfast was super good. I got some yogurt, toast, and oatmeal. My husband decided to get a super huge Mickey waffle, some bacon, eggs, and orange juice. We had a very filling breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to the lobby to wait for the bus to charter us to MK. The hotel informed us that there was a bus that picked up people at this hotel and it would take us to the Epcot (it only went to Epcot...that stunk, but we decided to try it). They told us it was free of charge and then they listed the times for us. Well, our first morning we got to the lobby a little early and just decided to wait around for the bus. We waited and waited and waited. The bus arrived about 25-30 minutes after its scheduled time. You know, I wasn't expecting something grand, but this bus was a piece of trash. Here let me show you a picture of the inside of this fine piece of machinery.

IMG_0043.jpg

Yes, it had two sets of doors on it, but the second set was broken. Oh, we did not get a picture of all the signs that told you that the driver needed to be tipped. There had to be 10 of those signs plastered throughout the bus. It irritated us. :headache: Anyway, we finally left our hotel and we thought we were on our way, but we weren't. We had to go to 3 other hotels and pick up more people. It took forever because we had to wait on people who weren't ready or were just slow. I'm sorry I'm being so negative, but our bus ride was not a pleasurable experience. Okay, enough on that rant. We finally made it to Epcot and got on the Monorail to head over to the TTC.

IMG_0048.jpg

Let me tell you, my hair was up in a ponytail in no time flat because it was so hot.

We made it to the TTC and decided that we wanted to take the ferryboat over to MK. Good choice b/c I like boat rides! I have to say it is a great feeling when you first see the MK in the distance. I tugged at my husband and told him how excited I was. I also love watching the people that are around you, especially the kids. It is so heartwarming to see the faces of little children light up with anticipation. Enough of the sap. :cutie:

IMG_0053.jpg

Well, I'm going to stop for the night. My husband is watching the Justice League and I kinda want to watch it with him. Yes, we are nerds.
Oh, and to let everyone know, we did not tip our bus driver. If you have to put up that many signs, I just think you are being greedy.

Next post: More MK and I get to meet my favorite princess!! Come back for the fun!!popcorn::
