Introduction...

Okay, so here is our attempt to do a trip report. This is our first trip report so please be kind to us. First things first. Let us introduce ourselves.

Me (the wife):

My name is April and I am a 24 year old teacher-in-training. I'm in graduate school right now learning how to become a wonderful high school teacher. Yes, I am brave. I enjoy teaching the older kids. Personally, the little ones scare me with their clingy natures.:confused3 Let me see...What else can I say that is interesting? I just got married to my husband on May 31st of this year. Our wedding was a blast, but I have to say that the honeymoon was 20 times better. :) I love animals, especially dogs. Well, I really love my dog. She is a 4 yr old Jack Russell Terrier named Hana. I also enjoy reading novels, watching anime, reading manga (yes, I am a nerd), playing video games with my husband, going to the mountains, and running. This trip was my fourth trip to WDW. I went a couple of times as a child and then as a freshman in high school. I love the MK and my favorite ride there is the Haunted Mansion. Another Disney love are the Disney princesses. Well, mainly Princess Aurora. My husband can attest to my love for her. I'm too wordy and I ramble to let my husband introduce himself. Oh, before I go I must put in a pic of my Hana.

Her Husband (my name is TR)(I come in second to her dog)
I'm sure you'll see pictures of me soon when we actually get past introductions and into the meat of our trip. I am 25 years old and until recently I was a long time employee of a large toy retailer. I love video games and movies. I am a pretty awesome guy and not as cranky as my wife is trying to make me out to be by the title of this whole thing. The last time I went to WDW was on my honeymoon, but you probably figured that out by now. The last time I went before that was apparently when I was in middle school but the only thing I remember was that Mr. Toad's Wild ride had been replaced with a Winnie the Pooh ride. Before that I had been a few times as a child (I remember riding 20,000 leagues a few times, but that was long, long ago). The end.

Details:
Dates: June 1 - June 10
Location: June 1 - June 7 Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista, June 7 - June 10 Contemporary Resort

That's it for now, stay tuned for details about our wedding and the first day of our honeymoon. Is the Residence Inn LBV a good hotel? Are the people there awesome? Will we get lost in downtown Atlanta on our drive down? (here's a hint: yes...and no) Will we win a million dollars just for being two awesome people? (here's a hint: no...and no) Come back and find out.

Hey everybody, This is TR (not to be confused with Trip Report) and I thought I'd piggyback on my wife's report and give you the REAL story.
Our plan was to leave straight from our wedding and hit the road to try to make it halfway to Orlando that night. Well, when we went to leave the wedding imagine my surprise when I saw this:
img_7259.jpg

One of my friends had gotten us a Delorian to leave in. For those of you who haven't seen Back to the Future: you're missing out. Seriously, this is one of my favorite movies, so this was one of the best surprises ever.
Also, I found out that no matter how hard to try to eat at your wedding reception you never get the chance, so once we got on the road at about 6:30 we were hungry. We stopped at KFC in Ringgold, GA and had our first meal as a married couple. It was enjoyable, especially since the lady in front of us was arguing that wings and a biscuit were 10 cents cheaper at McDonald's down the street. (I had no idea that McD's sold wings) Well, she left without paying for her food, so we got our food and sat down. One of the workers came and gave us that lady's food for free since they would just have to throw it out anyway! I'm all about free stuff. I'm not a huge fan of wings, but they were free, so it was the best meal I've ever eaten.

Once we got to Atlanta it was dark and they had almost all of the interstate shut down for construction. There were two lanes heading South that were open through downtown. Eventually we found out that they split - one to the right and one to the left. I said we should go right, she said we should go left, so what direction did we end up going? Left. I don't want to rub it in, but guess which direction we should have gone? That's right, husbands aren't wrong all the time, we just do what you tell us to keep from getting into an argument. Luckily we had my sister's TomTom so we found our way eventually (I'm sure I probably said "I told you so" more than once while we were driving). Anyway, we finally got into Perry, GA at about 1am. Believe me when I tell you we were exhausted. So we crashed so that we would be able to get up at a decent hour the next day for the last leg of our trip to Orlando. We were pretty excited.

I am so excited to read about your honeymoon. I took a honeymoon trip to Disney September of last year. It was amazing! Your wedding dress is beautiful. I love lace!!!!

Excited to read your TR.

We're going on our Disneymoon next June! We're getting married May 30 and going to Disney May 31-June 9th.

Thank you for the comment on my wedding dress. I love lace too! It was a beautiful dress, but it weighed a ton. I agree that WDW honeymoons are the best. The treatment you receive is amazing. Thanks for reading our trip report!:lovestruc

How fun! You guys are getting married right before our one year anniversary. I wish you the best on planning your wedding and I hope you guys have a magical honeymoon. Thanks for reading our trip report.:thumbsup2

I'm in. Since I will never have a Disneymoon, I want to live vicariously through you. I can't wait to hear the details that are fit to print!

Okay, so I saw that my husband decided to update the report by giving a short run down of our wedding day and our fun drive down to good ol' Perry, GA. On a side note, let me tell you a funny story about our wedding day. After we left the reception and drove off to our house, we thought that we were going to have some alone time at our house. You know, some time to relax before we set off for our first leg of the drive. Well, we thought wrong. When we arrived at our house we were greeted by my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, mother, and father. They decided to let themselves in and make themselves at home. I love my family and in-laws, but to me this was just awkward. To top off the weirdness, my mother suggested to my husband that he should take me to the bedroom and help me get out my dress. She said this with a snicker and everyone thought it was so funny. Not me. I was mortified! So much for our privacy!:confused3

Okay, so back on topic with the trip report. We started the first day all excited and ready to get on the road. We ate a good continental breakfast at the Hampton Inn. Let me tell you, this was a really nice hotel. It had just been remodeled and all the beds were new with new linens. If you are driving to WDW and need a place to stay in Perry, GA, we would definitely recommend this hotel. After we ate, we packed up all our stuff and hit the road.

When we reached Valdosta, GA we decided to stop and have some lunch. We stopped at Arby's and I decided to order my regular meal I have there: kids turkey and cheese meal. Yes, I'm a grown up. :) My husband ordered chicken fingers (they are his staple meal). After we ate lunch, we headed back out on that open highway. Before we knew it we saw this...

Yay!!!! We had reached Florida!!! Now onward ho to Orlando.:woohoo:
I'm starting to get tired so I will post more of Day 1 as soon as possible. I'll let you know about the Residence Inn LBV and all the fun we had at DTD. More pictures to come! Thanks for reading and all animal lovers are welcome to read and join in our trip report.

OMG...can't believe your whole family was waiting for you at the house after your wedding!! And the comment your Mom made about DH helping you with your dress?:scared1: I would have died!!!!!

Can't wait for the next update!!!:surfweb:

Ok, I'm in. Love the DeLorean, what a wild surprise! I would have died too if my Mom had said that. Actually, just having everyone there. :scared1:

Hana is a cutie! I bet it was hard leaving her behind.

Isn't driving through Georgia a blast. Haven't had to do it for about 12 years and I am glad I don't have to.

Looking forward to the next update!

I can't wait to read more, and your little jack russell is such a cutie. I am partial to jacks (and bulldogs) as well, but I love all dogs too.
Your wedding dress was gorgeous, you should post more pictures!

Sounds like it is time to change the locks to me.

Yay  I found your TR, I love reading about Disneymoons especially since I'm getting ready to go on mine. :cool1:. Your doggie Hana is sooooo cute. You look gorgeous in your wedding dress, I hope you post more pictures. My soon to be husband would have died to drive a delorean, he is a huge Back to the Future fan. Can't wait to hear more.

*First off, before I get on with the trip report, I want to thank everyone for all the kind comments.

When I left you guys we had entered FL and were now trucking it down to Orlando. My DH and I love getting close to WDW because of all the billboards that they post along the way. We would point out all the ones we saw and then talk about how excited we were. I feel like I'm a child again when I go to WDW. It is one of the greatest feelings ever.:yay:

Eventually, we saw the turn off for our hotel and made our way to it. As my DH said, we stayed at the Residence Inn LBV from June 1-7. I would have to say that this is a super nice hotel. It looks very Spanish with it's red tile roof. Ok, I am getting off topic by just describing our hotel...:p

So, we pulled up to our hotel and parked out front to go check in. My DH and I walked up the front desk and were immediately greeted by the staff. They offered us some citrus water to drink. I was impressed. Very nice. They asked all the usual questions and then gave us our room keys. As we walked back to our car, my DH asked if I had looked at the paper the staff member had up at the front desk. I told him no and then he told me that it had honeymoon written on it in big caps. Come to find out, that honeymoon written on that paper got us a whole floor to ourselves. Our room was on the fifth floor of one of the buildings (this was the top floor) and we had the whole floor to ourselves the whole time we were there. :cloud9:
It was super nice because we never had a wait at the elevator and there were no children or adults running and screaming up and down the hall.

We got to our room and this is what we saw when we entered it.

Yay!!! They gave us a whole strawberry cheesecake and a whole bottle of champagne. The sad thing is the fact that my DH's fave dessert is cheesecake, but the cake wasn't labeled as cheesecake so we didn't dig in to it until a few days later. We couldn't finish the whole thing. :guilty:
We went and checked out our bedroom and this is what greeted us.

IMG_0029.jpg

We were greeted by towel swans. Awww, they were kissing. Doesn't it give you the warm fuzzies??
I can't reiterate how nice the staff was. If you are staying off site, we would recommend this place.
Our room was like a mini apartment. It had a living room with all the trimmings, an eating area with a two person table, a kitchen with a full size fridge and freezer, a microwave, a sink, a stove (but no oven :confused3 ), all kinds of utensils and pots and pans, and then a king sized bedroom attached to a vanity area and then to the bathroom. I wish I would have taken more pictures of our room, but oh well.

After we settled in to our room, it was about dinner time. We had decided a long time ago to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Neither one of us had been so it was a must for us. Like I mentioned earlier, my DH loves, loves, loves cheesecake. We changed from our traveling clothes into something nicer and headed down to the Mall at Millenia. We got to the Cheesecake Factory and were immediately seated even though it was quite busy. I decided to order the cashew chicken (I love cashew chicken, especially Thai cashew chicken) and my DH ordered some shrimp pasta dish. I'm not sure of the exact name of the dish because it really didn't wow him. He liked my meal much better than his. You'll see that this happens frequently on our honeymoon.:rotfl2:
We finished our entrees and went on to dessert. I ordered the Tira Misu Cheesecake and it was delicious. DH ordered Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake. I wasn't crazy about it because I do not like bananas. Yuck. After dinner, we walked around the mall for a little bit until all the stores started closing down. We saw an exit sign and decided to follow it out. Little did we know that we were going to be taking a backdoor tour of the mall. Here is a pic of my husband going through the maze that was the mall.

IMG_0030.jpg

We had a lot of fun exploring the skeleton of the mall even though it did creep us out a little bit. Once we left the mall we decided to take our leftovers back to the hotel and then go check out DTD. :cool1:
Since this post is getting a little lengthy, I will stop here and continue in the next post.

Next post: We will finish Day 1! Yay for DTD and shopping for Disney stuff!!!
Then we can get to Day 2 and explain our first day at MK!! We love MK!!:cloud9:
