The first time the couple next door were smoking on balcony I spoke directly to them to advise if they were aware that smoking is not allowed on balcony and there are designated smoking areas. They didn't really even acknowledge what I said.
That afternoon I stopped at concierge to ask how to handle this. She asked me for the room number, which of course I knew. I said I didn't want to start a war.
I noticed again the next 2 days they continued to smoke on balcony.
So I went down to concierge again and asked what could be done.
She said they were checked out that morning and because of what I reported, they would be charged cleaning fee of $250 or whatever it was.
I was ok with it. I just didn't want to smell smoke while I was out on the balcony or inside if we kept the door open.
Hopefully others will do the same next time your neighbours are smoking on balconies.
