Here are some tips from our 1998 trip. Like the original Hostess Twinkie they have an insanely long shelf life so I thought I would share.
Wardrobe: The whole tip about wearing a swimsuit for kids was good. It was great to let DS play in the interactive fountains and know he would drip dry just fine. However our swimsuit was kind of
shall we say
loud
and the only t-shirt that matched was a little too big and also
loud. All of this to say it didnt photograph well
I mean he looked fine and felt comfortable but if you are into scrapbooking or having a beautiful display album you might want to consider how the clothes will photograph as well as stand up to actual park conditions. I wish I had.
Rest stops: Despite readily available family bathrooms, I decreed that the same sex parent was in charge of all potty breaks for the duration of the childs life. Check my siggie to see how that decision (which was so bright in 98) came back to bite me in the butt.
Food: We found that often our mood could be changed with a snack. Walking through Disney takes a lot of energy and especially in the heat you might not feel hungry per se but if you are used to eating regularly you probably are
dont forget to eat. Pack some Nabs
Budget: We actually came in under budget on this trip. Not that I am recommending that you forget to eat dinner
or share a coke
(not that there is anything wrong with that) What I am saying is plan a realistic budget for your family and vacation desires, cushion it a little, and have fun.
Planning: Well, I am probably preaching to the choir here but I found that research and planning not only helped me plan a realistic budget but gave us a far more enjoyable day
. And it was the key element that converted my husband to a fellow Disney lover.
Up next: What will happen next? When will the intrepid Twinkies return?
