How I got out of a mixed marriage

It is such a great cliffhanger that I should leave you there untill tomorrow....
but you know I am a softie..... And BackstageGal said please....
so now imagine a ripple effect to take us back to 1998....

I figure that at least they know where I am even if I don’t know where they are…. So if I start moving around we might end our magical day with a game of hide and seek that might not even be funny in retrospect. So I stay put.

Then I see across the way….

A tall, dark, unshaven man with an excited preschooler!!! They are alive and well and together. They head toward me but a CM stops them at the rope. I knew it. I knew they wouldn’t make it back in time and now all of my spot-sitting has been in vain. I will not experience the parade with my favorite guys… no I will the “not to be missed” evening entertainment with JimBob and the space encroachers. I wonder about Berlin and if people really did go out for an errand and were prevented from returning home by the Wall. I don’t know if I heard that in history class or in some work of fiction I have read.

Wait, what is going on over there?

DH is talking to a female CM.
He is pointing and gesturing.
From across the street I can see that he has turned on the charm (Southern Belles can do that). And now he is crossing the rope! He is crossing the street! :cool1: Soon my boys are back and we are trying to squeeze into the little space strollerless me has managed to save.
DS is talking a mile a minute about how unbelievably cool and delightfully spooky the Haunted Mansion is at night. He asks JimBob if he has gone to a Haunted house at night. JimBob hasn’t. (Keep your light up toy JimBob- we would rather have a hitchhiking ghost any day of the week). And just in the nick of time because the parade is here!
It is “not to be missed”- we loved seeing the lights, the costumes, the characters. As soon as it was over we began to wend our way to our fireworks viewing location. So did everyone else. We held tight to DS and let the taller DH navigate the crowd. We made our way to what was, in my opinion, a prime location with time to spare. I didn’t allow the boys to leave my side. As we waited for the fireworks, DH commented that he enjoyed the parade but next time we come we should spend the parade doing the e-rides because the crowds would be watching the parade.
People, do you realize what just happened here!? He is not only talking about a return trip as a given but is showing every indication of becoming a convert to Way of Loving Walt Disney World. As I gaze at him adoringly, I can’t help but notice that the crowd is continuing to move down Main Street. Do they know something I don’t know????

Ah, sweet victories all around. And well-deserved!

You've woven your magical spell on me, too. I thought I didn't need to subscribe to any more TR. I was wrong, horribly, horribly wrong. And thank you for proving it to me.

Thank you, Thank You TM! Just when I thought I would have to go to bed without reading that cliffhanger! What a spectacular TR! (and with ZZub looking on!W-O-W) Keep it coming. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

how nice to wake up to the next installment... cannot wait for MORE!! (greedy girl that i am! LOL!)

another great installment. another great distraction keeping me from making twinkie cakes. and drafting documents. that a partner is waiting for. for a deal that needs to close next week. oops. better get on that.

I'll take your three for my three. the sale will be "as is". no refunds or credits allowed. we can trade back when your twins are 13 and my trips are 9. teenage girl twins. now that's scary.

Some people read bodice ripping romance, I read about other people’s vacations to Disney World. So who is weird? Not me. ;)

Not me, either!!!

:rotfl2: DH: “Are you crazy?!? There is no way we can afford to spend $200 bucks a day on a Disney vacation! That is as much as our entire week in Florida”
Me: Stunned silence. Followed by quivering lip and “But but but it is Disney World” as of that is all anyone needs to say.

That is all anyone needs to say. That's my response for a plethera of statements.

I'm really enjoying your report! It's making me even more anxious for our October trip! :cool1:

2 months and 27 days until our annual family Disney trip at the Wilderness Lodge
Mom of 2 pirate: pirate:

Subscribing, just so I know how this ends! LOL

I'm in a mixed marriage too - still trying to get DH as excited about Disney as me. Problem is, I keep getting more excited and he's not keeping up!

Oh, can't wait until August 31 - going home to Disney.

Love your TR. I've actually just read the whole thing in one sitting.

That means that I haven't done any actual "work" for most of the afternoon.

So as I stand there watching the sea of humans drift toward the park entrance I wonder if they know something that I don’t… is there a better spot? Is it really so important to leave the park before the fireworks end? Or are all these people here for 20 day vacations and they have already seen the fireworks countless times? So I mention to DH that maybe we should leave now or we might be stuck in gridlock.

“What? Miss the fireworks? We have been here all day we may as well stay until the very end.” He says. :thumbsup2 Now that is my kind of guy. I didn’t really want to leave early…

So we people watch and enjoy the lights on the castle. We notice that DS is swaying… kind of as if he might actually fall asleep on his feet. Why don’t we have a stroller?

Then the fireworks start. They are superb. What is so great is that you keep thinking that surely this has to be the finale…. And then there are more… and more… and more!
And then we get to see Tinkerbell fly. The look on DS’s face at that very moment was worth $200. I wish we could go again tomorrow. (Here I am in 2006, trying not to cry again)

We both hold tight to DS and allow ourselves to be sloshed down stream in the tide of humanity. It only takes us about 5 steps to realize that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link and our weakest link is a 4 year old who is practically asleep. So we decide to let DS ride on DH’s shoulders (is it you sleepydog who called this the Daddy Express- good name) while I hang on to DH’s belt loop. And away we gooo! (At this point not having a stroller is an asset for us unless you are willing to use it as a ramming device which someone behind me clearly is)

DH wants to stop at the Main St ice cream store for more ice cream. A Mickey bar doesn’t last forever and we haven’t had dinner so I say “Why not?” But it is across the street… the street that is wall to wall tourists. We make our way through the teeming crowd only to see that the line is out the door. DS’s eyes are kind of rolling as he struggles to stay awake. So we decide to head for the car.

I do give the castle a backwards glance as we leave- and I wonder when we will be here again. We wait in line to ride the monorail back to the TTC and then forgo the tram in favor of walking. The Daddy part of the Daddy Express is holding up well but by now even he wishes we had a stroller.

All day DH had been teasing DS that it was his job to remember where we parked the car. Whenever we were bored in line, DH would say “Who knows where we parked the car?” So now DH repeats the question. DS opens both eyes with a stricken look and then he remembers “Pluto 11”
Good ‘cause that is where we are. That is where the car is. We open the car and while we let the heat dissipate I change DS into jammies right there in the parking lot (I prefer to think of this as European as opposed to redneck). The little guy is fast asleep before he is buckled into the car seat.

And we leave the Happiest Place on Earth. There is no gridlock… not even much traffic. As we drive through the night, we relive our day and enjoy every moment all over again. :cloud9:

And then there is more magic…
DH looks at me and says “Thanks for taking us. This is one of my favorite days… right up there with the day we got married and the day DS was born. We had so much fun because you planned this whole thing out. Thank you for reading that book. It was so cool how we had everything done that we wanted to do before1 o’ clock. Thank you. I love you”

Oh my! What a sweet story! Thanks so much for sharing it with us and boy do you have a great memory! I' just started reading this today and thank goodness for that. I didn't have to wait between cliff hangers! :rotfl:

Aw that was a great trip report --- Thanks soo much for sharing it with us -- do you have anymore?

As I read that last part my itunes was playing main street music - I thought that was a pretty good background music.
