Silly question here, but leaving in the morning. :woohoo::yay::woohoo: Can anyone compare mid-low 80's in Florida to the same temps in southern PA? I know 82 is pretty warm but I am obviously trying to do last minute packing. It's less humid in FL, right? Can we get away with long pants (want to be more comfortable in the am as well as after dark with-out taking much stuff to the parks)? Here it was shorts/tee shirt weather yesterday for some but it was still no problem wearing pants since the warm temps were only from about 12-4 or so.

Thanks for any help

It is going to feel just as warm down there as it does up here.

It all depends on whether you would want to wear pants up here when it is 80 degrees......

We've been to WDW in Early March and for Food&Wine numerous times, flying in from north east PA. At those times of the year we're pretty much adjusted to colder weather and Orlando is a pleasant shock to our systems. We went last month and got there in the midst of some 90s and we had to take breaks and take on fluids, which we gladly did.

82 you're going to be hot and want to swim and wear shorts to the parks. We went November last year and found the days to be very hot. We're from NJ and had met up with Florida relatives who were like you think THIS is hot?

Our last day was a high of like 69 - that was the only day we wore warmer stuff.
but you will need a jacket or sweatshirt most evenings.
I'm needing to start packing soon myself and am dreading it. When we went in August that was easy - it was going to be HOT and pack accordingly! But this time I know to pack warm weather clothes for every day, and then stuff for chilly nights and allowing a few outfits for colder days.

stitch34 - that is the best way to plan this time of year.

I went one year and it was right after a major hurricane and it hit 90 almost every day. We were just drenched in sweat - we were also on the cruise, so when we got to the Caribbean, it was hitting nearly 100 degrees. Phew.

Mostly, it has been around 80 during the day and mid 60's at night, but it is good to be prepared. I am taking a neutral color sweater to wear in the evenings that will match everything that I own.

This thread reminds me of the argument I always have with my wife about what is "room temperature".

I say its whatever temperature the "room" happens to be and she insists that there is a specific temperature that is designated as "room temperature".

Anyway... I'm pretty sure that 82 degrees feels warm no matter where you are ;)

The Iron Giant - that is funny, because I work in facilities management. We get calls like, "It is cold in my office." You get there and it is perfectly comfortable to me, but I am used to working outside from time to time, so temperature doesn't always bother me. I tend to ignore the temp. You look at the BAS program and it clearly says it is 68 in their office, which is standard setting for heat - but they "feel" cold.

But temperature is a perception - what seems to be very hot or cold to you, might not necessarily be too hot or cold to me.

I found it funny one year, I was by myself and out very early walking. There were some construction workers getting ready to work for the day at the Boardwalk Inn. I went over and introduced myself and told them I was a construction manager. They thought it was pretty cool; which is what one of the guys eventually said - aren't you cold? I was wearing shorts, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. They were bundled up in jackets and gloves, warming their hands over a pot of coffee. It was 50 degrees. I came from a state where the previous day, it was 24 degrees, so it felt great to me.

Of course, by mid-morning, it was 65 and they were in t-shirts. For them in FL, 50 can be a bit brisk.

It's always a matter of what you're used to. I live in Northwest Florida and 82 is nice mild weather, but I don't classify it as "hot" by any stretch. We leave on Friday and I'm not sure what to pack, either! It's in the mid-50's outside this morning and I'm wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. If the lows are going to be in the 60's this weekend, I can probably make it with short sleeves and a light jacket in the mornings and evenings.

I just hope for mild, sunny weather! I'll adjust to whatever temp it is!

we were just down there the 1st week of November....and it was hot! (avg 95)

but all the attractions are SUPER air conditioned, so you end up getting really cold, so once outside in the heat, its not bad at all!

I'm from CT so I like it cold....Im not good with the heat...but I was surprised when 95 wasnt bad at all....

Also I swear it feels warmer because of the intensity of the sun.

I was there in February and even though it said 80 it felt hotter because since you are closer to the equator the sun goes through less atmosphere. I think there is more radiant heat so you feel hotter but the weather report doesn't reflect it.

If you are from PA you will probably want shorts during the day when it's 80. Us FL natives will be in jeans and will be chilly in the shade but I know northerners don't feel the same way about it. My IL's are down from Ohio and wear shorts when I'm in jeans. And no, the humidity is NOT lower down here.

Pack for layers. It is pretty normal for the temps to fluctuate 40 degrees within one day. I'm also in NW FL and it can be upper 40s in the morning and then hit upper 70s by mid-day. This morning it was in the low 50s and will be in the low to mid 70s by lunch. It can be very humid in FL but the November humidity is nothing like summer humidity. :)

I say its whatever temperature the "room" happens to be and she insists that there is a specific temperature that is designated as "room temperature".

I have to agree with your wife. Room temp means something, specially in baking. It is in the range of 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C). In chemistry problems room temperature is usually assumed to be 25°C. In physics problems it is usually either 20°C or 22°C.

To the OP, I think FL is more humid than PA in general, and definitely more humid in Nov. It might get windy at night, so bring some light sweaters.

82 in November in no way feels the same as 82 in August. August 82 is much heavier and thicker from the humidity. November is not so bad, though the sunlight will still feel baking hot directly on your bare skin and will still burn you quite quickly.

We're a couple of hours north of WDW, but the low this morning was in the mid 50s and it will be near 80 by lunch time. When the sun is down it call cool off pretty fast - jeans and a light jacket for us at night/early morning, but ok for shorts and sandals by noon. Welcome to fall in Florida, where we often use the heat and A/C on the same days.

Wrap and peel, our weather man calls it.

We're from Oklahoma. We were at WDW last December and it was in the 80s. We never wanted long sleeves, not even in the morning or evening, and we never felt cold. The night time lows were in the 70s and upper 60s. We had brought all jeans/pants instead of shorts and we really wished we had shorts. It felt really hot in the afternoon.

Well, I tend to find that we need a jacket for mornings and evenings. My daughter and I wear capris and take light jackets with us. We need them indoors when the AC is blowing full blast. I would rather have them with us than go without. Plus, once we hit the parks we stay till evening..(closing) so we want our jackets for night. My husband tends to be fine in shorts and polo shirts all day and night.

I think it is beautiful right now. Temps have been in the low 80s. By the end of the week, they will be in the upper 70s. Humidity is low right now. There has been a nice breeze. To me, this is perfect weather!
